My favorite place I like to dance is....
Tra's
O'Connors Rd and Highway 35 NE San Antonio
Country Western Music
Mostly 40's to 60's age group
Different live bands every Thurs Fri and Sat nights...Regular Band Sunday and Jamm
Friday and Saturday nights seem to draw the biggest crowds
Nice size dance floor for a Bar...handles good 25 couples on the floor...
I like going there acct its good music and more my age group and close location for me...

Gruene Hall in Gruene, TX- large variety of music from Hal Ketchum to The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the crowd is diverse depending on who's playing.
Criders in Hunt, TX- every Saturday night (during summer) rodeo & dance, country music, family crowd
London Dance Hall in London,TX- country music, beer drinkers need I say more.....
Luckenbach, TX (the dance hall IS the town) wide variety of music and diverse crowd although mostly there are singer/song-writers pickin' & singin' almost eveyday 
I hang out mostly at the Back Porch Cantina in Kerrville, TX- variety of music from locals to Will Owen Gage, young & older crowd; Thursday open mic (sometimes there are some really good jams)- I'm playing there this Saturday

Doesn't anybody in the DU forums dance...?????? I was always under
the impression everybody played a flat top guitar and knew how to Texas
two-step by the time they were teenagers...??????????

Texas Rose Hall in Alvin BEFORE it became cavanders (not sure what it is now) in Alvin Texas
The Ranch in Waco when it is NOT a Tejano club (no offense but like to understand the words to the songs) All Country Music

534 Club in Lagarto, TX On FM 534. Bands on friday and sat. Nice large floor.
Also Grunts Texas Cantana, on 534, 7 miles from 534 club. Only 2 bars here so we don't have much to pick from. Still good bands, lots of activity going on.

Hey I'm pretty new to this site! I like it real fine though. I live in the DFW area but am originally from victoria, tx. Still call that my home! morles - you are right! I grew up dancing!! I love to country western dance. However, my youngest is a senior and is fixing to graduate. I've had no time to dance lately. I like cowboys in Arlington, TX. But I do like Billy Bob's in the Ft. Worth stockyards. Haven't been there in a long time. I'm ready to get back into shape and dancing is the best way for me to do it. As long as there is music, i can keep going!

I'd have to give the nod to Schroeder Hall, 2nd oldest hall in Texas. Gruene is another fave, being the real deal, but they play so much more than country nowadays.

Moe's in Katy. All age groups. Lots of good regional acts play there.
The Firehouse in Houston and Cypress Saloon in Cypress are both pretty good also.
