Looks like I'm the only respondent...Well, I really love Darren Aranofsky's films (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain). Requiem was intense at the end, when all the characters met their own personal hell. Of special note was the relationship between the son and his mother. His feelings were conflicted, and heroin allowed him to cope with his ambivalence. Aranofsky certainly has a feel for the inner life of his characters.

I haven't seen the fountain, but I have heard of it. PI was also good, but a bit confusing. I was half asleep watching it anyway, so that may have been the biggest problem.
But Requiem is one of my favorite movies. It's deep.

I agree that Requiem has depth. Did you know what the "dream" refers to? The American Dream. The characters sought fame or fortune, yet ended up seeing the dream die. P.S. you seem to be a very creative person. I hope you are able to invest time and energy in exploring your creative self while you are young.

I have Requiem for a dream. I liked it. It was real close to reality. What would happen.

First I gotta say I love the drug-themed movie category and Requiem is one of the best. It and Trainspotting are the two reasons why I will never do heroin. Requiem's much darker tone makes it, in my opinion, one of the best deterrents a parent could find. definately not a flick for those with weak stomachs but a damn fine film. Jennifer Connelly and Jared Leto's performances were excellent.

The Fountain was beautiful. It took several times to catch each small detail. The small details made the movie larger than life.
