I'm not sure if we're allowed to post links but a simple heads up, be on guard of people who say they’re from Russia or Nigeria, do a search on "romance scams" in google and about the sixth link down the page you’ll find good information about their antics.

With some simple tips you can be a super sleuth and determine if the person your getting evolved with is really just a scam artist, some scammers are very obvious but not all of them.

9 times out of 10 if they are from Russia it's a scam and sooner or later they will start asking for money. I played with one for about 6 months and had her going until she realized that I wasn't going to send her any money.

All I have to say is....

If you are foolish enough to respond to some of these "pleas" with promises of money.... oh yeah, and you need to give them money first.... you probably should not be allowed to have internet access!

Actually, the scammers have the same "modis operendi" as fake daters on websites!

If I suspect someone is a scammer I generally say in my first (or second) email to them that I'm glad I met them. Then I go on later in the email to say how I've encountered con-artists who say they need me to send them money, or they are from Lagos, or West Africa, or Russia. They I go into details about the scam and end up with saying "could you imagine anyone being so stupid as to ask for money from someone they havn't even met face to face?" To date I have not gotten one reply back!

Hello

How are you doing?i just got on and saw your profile on search, i liked it so i thought i should email you, I got your words and it really impressed me so much, well, I just want you to know the kind of person I am, I am a lady(Toyin) that is in need of real and perfect love, I need a man that can take me through, see , I have been hurt so many times by different men and wouldn't want that to happen to me again.....thats the reason why I said that I need love.... I am far from a millionaire and am not out for anything but love from someone. Having someone that loves you and supports you in your life through good and bad times and won’t give up on you is what I am looking for. Honesty and trust are what makes a relationship work. I prefer to watch a movie or attend the theater rather than read a novel.
I also enjoy travel, experiencing different geographies and people. My eyes are brown, and I have fair white skin. I do not smoke. I do drink on social occasions.i graduated from Xavier University in New orleans LA... Bcos i was brough up by dad there...... well Concerning sexuality, I am not a promiscuous woman. My desire is to be sexually faithful to the man I marry. If two people love each other and will communicate what they like and do not like about their partner's sexual behavior, I believe many problems can be resolved. Moreover, I am currently working on my own cos i had to try something else after i lost almost all i had to my last relationship
i just got into the business of collecting antiques...it is a nice thing to do..i buy and sell antiques and well i am on a trip to to get some antiques in West africa from here nextweek..it aint fun anyway but i will be back home soon(MOODY)AL to the United States very soon, hope to hear back from you Remember, I need real love..i dont play games and i aint ready to be played....i got yahoo IM...we can get to chat there live..my IM name is (deleted) and my mail address (deleted) @yahoo.com.

THey ALL seem to use yahoo! lol!

telemarketers uses this scam when calling the states. they pose that you've won a jackpot and need to send them like 5000$ to collect your prize. Not just that but not all scammers will try to get you to send them money others will just ask for information that usually if you've talked to them long enough you'd be more open to give them that information. I've been to many online dating sites and i can tell you there is endless amount of scammers out there wanting the easy money. there is also no way to get rid of them. as long as people use these sites there will be people trying to scam them. Just like as long as theres sports people will bet on them. Which brings me back to my point. All they want is easy money!!! if anyone would like to know more about some different types of scams out there just ask me.

I work for a bank, and I see scams run all the time, beware if its to good to be true then it is. If some company said you won a lottery and sent you a check and want you to send them money back for you to get your bigger check, (people think about it).SCAM!!

The same goes for the matter of the heart, if it to good to be true, then it is. The trouble is that most of us are to trusting.

Ladies & Gentlemen may i please introduce to you (in Russia) Elena from Yoshka Ola or is it lenail from Chebroksary or lena from Cheboksary! well it doesn't really matter for they are all the same woman and she is also a con artist, very capable of ripping off any foolish male who is daft enough to send her money via western Union. I know for i was one of them. and unfortunately, not the only one. while the Russian police are aware of her scams they don't want to do anyhting about it, because she is not the only one at it! do not send her any money! she will phone you in tears saying she is in moscow awaiting a flight but run out of money, she will say she hasn't enough to pay the visa etc but be warned she will not contact you after you send the money and she and her brood of witches and thier pimp will happily take you for all you have got. see photo in search - Russia (18-+) page 2 she's there twice on the one page with two different names and different personalities. i am also on to one more nastena also known as mariya or mashenka age 27 from chebroksary or Yazan (who knows with these ladies) so girls if you have anything to say to defend yourselfs you already know my email! if this mail is removed i shall contact the authorities of every nation where this company operates out of and inform them of their complicity (means knowingly acting/taking part in a crime). while Russia won't do anything, european nations interpol and the FBI are aware because i have informed them!

How stupid and/or desperate would a person have to be to send for a foreigner.....oh wait, she is more gorgeous than any American women, or she is better at cooking or cleaning, or sex. Oh wait, she is less materialistic and jaded and more understanding of men's needs. Any one call for a dipshit?

True people can succomb to foolish acts in the desire to find love.
That same scam can be pulled here in the states as well as fro abroad.

Sorry Kat I understand your point and it may appear that way on surface, however
given the internet is it not also possible that she met him online wrote for sometime etc and genuinely lead him to believe that she had fallen for him, the same as could happen here in the usa.

we men have been taken for much more by locally grown beauties as well.

the sad part of all this is that so many people are so desperate for acceptance or companionship that this type of scam is profitable, it would not exsist if there were not money to be made at it.

maybe american women should consider more men as potential mates instead of strictly looking for fabio with trumps money.

it goes both ways I know, ideally people will find that what and who a person is how they treat us is more important than the superficial.

reality is that as a group people are shallow and deluded. What man in his 50's relly believes the 21 yr old hottie finds him perfect above all others and what woman really believes that the prince of england is pining away just for her.

yet we all tend to hold some fantasy of such it seems. I admit hot tight round bottom etc is very appealing and arousing luckily I discovered that if I wish to enjoy having the same woman in my life that she needs to posess many other attributes as well, for me intelligence wit and an edge to her demeanor as well as the soft feminen side even if only I see it especially if only I see it. lol

Face it any of us could be suckered its easy for someone to betray those that care about them,

be safe all and care about your selves as much as those in your life, we will all benefit more from that balance because we will have more to share with all we care for that way

They had a show about those scammers on Dr. Phil. Two women had sent money to their Love and Dr Phil did a background on the guys daaa..the pictures were those of models from an online modeling agency and the phones they called these women from were a scam office set up in the UK. How can women be so gullible, one guy was sent money to come back "home" and the woman waited at the airport for him..no show, then later she got a call from a "dr" stating the guy was in the hospital and needed money for lifesaving surgery. Desperate women take desperate measures to find love. But then again it happens to men too.

Yes, Speaking of scams. I get e-mail from young beautiful Russian Women saying how much they love you and blah, blah, blah. They'll send sexy photos of themselves and some of them even will say how sexually attracted they are to you and can't wait to have sex with you. Then of course they'll ask you for money to pay for their plane fare say they can fly over and see you. What a load of crap! I mean it's scam written all over it. I know of a few accounts of some lonely and desperate American Men that fell victim to such a scam. They wired the money to whom she/he may be and once they get the money they'll never hear about them again nor will they recover their lost money. The Russian Authorities are just as corrupt as the scammers themselves. Yes, desperate people do desperate things. Remember, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Com'on people! I guess I am the only real Russian woman on this site...My advice to a man: NEVER send any money to women abroad..even if you believe she is for real. You want to meet her? Go to Russia with an organized tour and meet her over there. However, be aware that if something happens to your health while you are there..you are in trouble! I met a man through my friends here in California who wanted to meet a Russian woman. People who tried to set me up on a date with him, did not tell me his age, just showed me his pic (he looked OK on a pic). We met several times because I liked talking to him about life, however, he was not in my desired age range for a mate, so I just wanted to be friends. Then I heard from my friends that he went to Russia to meet a girl and he died from appendicitis over there!!! I am shocked and still in disbelief! Very very sad!

The pictures of Russian Women were probably stolen from a Russian modeling agency. So the person who is e-mailing you is not that person. The Russian Models themselves are not aware that there pictures are being used for such scams. Nor are they involved and there pics were used without there consent.

I might even suggest that you at least have a friend (that's not emotionally involved with the situation) check it out. Do this especially if you believe you have found one that is not a scam.
