Are you telling me there is no Santa??? You have to believe in something...at 8 I finally told my son there is no Easter bunny...but you know the easter bunny is love and believing and hope there will always be an Easter bunny. But your mom is the Easter Bunny...figured in 4th grade maybe his friends might laugh if he told them a giant bunny hopped around town with candy eggs and such....

I've always been a very brutal and upfront person in regards to things. Besides all my years in retail... killed off pretty much anything in regards to any form of holiday spirit.

My job has me working morning noon n night during the holiday season. I truly don't think that a job has anything to do with how a person FEELS about the Holiday season. That comes from the heart. Maybe your lack of enthusiasim [sp]and bitter feelings stems from your childhood. Give this some thought. I feel badly for you that you have doom n gloom around the holidays...

eh, i just see things as how they really are... plus also i lack family. not only due to being adopted but the family i'm with. most have passed on and those that aren't are mostly scattered around the country and elderly with 1 foot in the grave. other than my sister, and they're like preppy people, living in a fairly wealthy neighborhood. mostly everything with them is social status, and fitting in with everyone else.
never been much for fitting and blending in to be the same as most others.

If your a parent with kids who believe in Santa and The Easter Bunny and you dont know when to tell them the truth about them try telling them when they are between the ages of 8 and 10 years old.

When they come and ask you to tell them the truth......then you tell them.
In your case though, ask your x-wife or right after your last child support payment!

I never told my kiddos. There is an idea out there that if you lie to them about these characters, when the kids finally find out the 'truth' they don't trust you because they realize the lies you told them for years. Yeah, whatever.
I got out of that whole deal by saying if you don't believe in Santa, he doesn't come and leave any presents! That simple. My daughter asked me straight up if Santa was a lie, and it was really me leaving the presents. "I just want to know the truth!" she pleaded. If you don't believe-he doesn't come. (Please don't bring up tooth fairy, easter bunny, etc at this time.)
I used this technique with my older son, and now he goes along, excited to help perpetuate the myth for his younger sister. I don't have him do much but he feels like he's in on it. Nobody asks the question anymore.
Hey, we also tell ghost and martian stories--its fun to believe it could be true! You know what it is, it is that its fun to perpetuate the fantasy and it is a long-lived tradition that excites us with anticipation.Half of the fun is the anticipation, the event always better (or worse) remembered!

I still beleive in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. When I see
people helping other people in trouble that's the true Santa Cluas!
