Best way to explain....it is different with every guy.
1) The older man is not used to dating a younger (sometimes...much younger woman) and he is nervous.
2) Older guy wants a relationship with the younger girl, but is afraid sex will complicate things.
3) Older men may be afraid the woman is a gold-digger
4) Older man maybe intimidated by younger men in the woman's lives ( this could include family as well)
5) Older guy ran out of his viagra and is afraid of striking out.

i understand how you feel because i have always felt that way
execpt,in a weird way i think that i'm the opposite in a relationship
i mean i don't know if a girl wants me for sex so i'm not entirely sure
but i understand your fustration and to be honest i think to some degree
i'm usually really nervous and not sure if a girl is actually looking for a relationship with or with out sex. i hope i made scense

This seems to be the best answer. Now in my case it isn't always the "younger girl part" however when the girl gives you this crazy look and you just see the wedding bells over her head the first time you and her go at it.... you are screwed.
Sex does complicate things from my experience, it is a good way to get sucked into a year of bullshit that is not going to end well. Girls I have met seem to associate sex with love and I know how to get the crazy ones. So if I ever avoid having sex with someone it is simply to not complicate things, not because I do not like you! (which they never seem to get)
