are there any cp's(custodial parents) out there waiting for the comptroller to release their federal tax offset (pending the filing of the injured spouse claim form,)just wondering cause i'm getting the run around about how to get it released before the 6 month waiting period! And there should be no reason that the non cp's spouse can't go ahead and sign a waiver stating that they will not be filing a claim, the state of illinois is holding hundreds of thousands of dollars owed to parents for back child support, exactly what are they doing with this money? who gets the interest? And why can't you look up the phone number for the goveners office? i'm looking for info specific to illinois but this is happening in every state and when i finally got in touch with the gov's office some guy yelled at and told me to call the irs who i called first anyway!

Injured spouse is another matter and has to be handled manually. Did you get a notice in the mail with the IRS' determination? Did you fill out paperwork for injured spouse to the IRS?
You have to have been married, have separate bank accounts, and not be aware of where the monies coming into the household are distributed. Is that your case?
I think you might be confusing a tax return---with the monies which will be released to taxpayers via Bush's spending incentive plan.
Are you owed back child support? There is still no word whether the incentive plan can be released for past due support.
Not sure what you mean about the releases that have anything to do with a NCP's spouse.

NO I'M NOT CONFuSED ABOUT THIS MATTER TRUST ME the injured spouse claim form is for the spouse of the non custodial parent to file if they wish to try to re-coup the federal tax return that was taken for child support arrearages, basically if the new spouse makes more money than the custodial parent they can claim that money as theirs by filing an injured spouse claim form they have 6 months to do so, the problem in illinois ,is that there is no release waiver for the new spouse to file stating they will not be filing a claim so the money can be released to the custodial parent instead teh state of illinois is trying to tell me they are federally regulated to hold the money for 6 months pending the filing of this claim, BS , other states have a waiver releasing said monies thereby making it a reasonable expectation that illinois should to heres the deal there is no way i'm the only one questioning this practice and i'm really disgusted with the governors office and the HFS dept in the way they have responded to my inquiry in this matter.
