There are not enough words to say it. I was in the National Guards for 24 years and have been over seas. I wasn't in the war but I sure would have went if I was called to.
The ones who have been there have my total respect.

My son was military and I thank God everyday that he came home okay. My heart breaks for the mothers whose child does not make it back

I agree kfab. We as Americans can't say thank you enough to the brave men and women who risk their life day in and day out to protect us. I have a friend who is in Iraq now (comes home in May), one that may be going over there in Oct, and a guy who I dated informed me last night that at age 27, he has enlisted because he feels its his patriotic duty.

If i had an open chance, I'd not say, but show my respect and gratitude toward those who honorably serve this country, if need be and allowed, i'd be in the proverbial thick of things right along side them.

Sometimes all we have is tears and cannot speak, because of the joy and thankfulness, and also the sadness for the ones that have lost their lives

Very true Kfab. But they are the true Heros. So is your son so don't get me wrong on that. My heart does out to the parents who lost a child there.

I live in Jaxsonville and it is a military town. I feel pride everytime I drive past the base and see the American flag flying in all her glory.

you guys really know how to bring a tear to an old vets eyes. its because of wonderful people like y'all that i put my life on the line as did many, many others. i would like to thank you all for your support and kindness, and even if you cant afford to send care packages to those boys overseas in harms way, just send them a letter telling them exactly what youre saying in this thread. trust me, itll bring a smile to those boys' face that they so need. thanks again.

I live near an Army Base -- these dudes and dudettes come back, many are freaked and take it out on their families and themselves and each other and it is sooo important to let them know their effort was not in vain-- so unlike 'Nam, when we came back and got eggshelled and spit on, when all the while it was the politicians who spat on us, the military enlisted or conscripted
