Ashville, NC is a great place. Nature, outdoors, history, eclectic cafes, art, music and bars.
I rather enjoy Washington DC, as well. You can visit many of the museums for free. If you stay outside of the city limits, the cost is pretty low, too.
Key West is on my list! Any advice? My goal is to stay in a private bungalow so that I can enjoy the mayhem when I choose but solitude, too.

Go to LA.There is so much to do.Climb the Hollywood sign,book a live taping,hit the Sunset Strip,Santa Monica Beaches,The OC,Hollywood Blvd. It's just endless.
