I have joined a few online social site recently (past 6 months) and am finding it hard to find what I am looking for becasue it seems hard to define exactly what it is I am looking for.
See, I just got out of a very long-term relationship last August and am really enjoying my single life for awhile. The problem is that there are sites out there for either Dating, Long-Term Relationships, or Sex.
What I am looking for is Activity Partners. Now let me define that before you all assume that is just Friends With Benfits or sex.
I find dating to be too formal and too serious. It is basically an interview for long term dating and that is to much pressure up front. What I would like is to find people to do stuff with, ballgames, festivals, canoeing, Kings Island, water parks, movies, etc, but without the shadow of a long-term relationship looming over each meeting.
That is the exact reason why I like hanging out with a large group of people from work or with a large group of friends of friends, there is no pressure but if you hit it off with someone then you can pursue that person.
I wish there was a site for people just interested in getting out and doing things with new people, but not expecting you to "not see" other people or call them everyday. Just find someone you could call up or email and say "Hey, you wanna hit todays Red's game with me?" and not have that other person think "He likes me, this could be the one, where do we go from here?, is he seeing someone else".
Please don't mistaken this for just wanting to date many women and sleep around. I currently have a few MySpace female friends that I meet up with every now and then for drinks or lunch, and we don't all sleep together or date each other. It is a very low-pressure, fun time with someone. I mean, is it alright that I just would like to meet fun, new females to do fun, stuff with around town? I don't think that is unreasonable.
Hell, I design websites for a living, maybe I should just write a new social network site to fot my needs. Hahahahaha.

IT's ALL IN HOW YOU USE IT and/or PERCEIVE IT .
Yes i know it's called Date Hookup , but not all dates are sexual, some dates are for just coffee, dinner, movie or have someone to hike / bike with , go to the zoo, amusement parks.
The hardest part of being single for me is to go do something by myself but i doubt anyone is going to come to my door and ask me to do something, so sometimes you have to get out in public by yourself. You never know there maybe a 3rd wheel looking for someone to talk too.
If you look at the individual profiles and their wants, needs, not everyone is looking for dating , some just want to try to find friends in their area for as you say common "activities".

I see your point aguy4agirl, and I AM filtering my searches, but I am contacted by all kinds and dont know how to say "sorry, Im not your type" without looking or seeming like an ass!.
I actually found a woman on another site that read my post and congratulated me for it, so I ended up talking to her for awhile. then she proceeded to act the same way I stated in the post. Asking me who I am seeing, who I know, where is this going; AFTER THE FIRST TIME MEETING.
I CANT WIN!!!!

sorry about your luck Rom , sometimes you just can't win for losing .
But it takes a long time to really know someone ( i'm talking 10 + YEARS ) , not months and it's good that she showed you this side of her so early and internet dating isn't for the weak of heart or insecure .
Everyone here could be talking to other people and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't buy the first apple i see .
Also don't lose hope , there's plenty of time
