you guys have me searching for something to use for a pole, that I can recommend to each of you. All the good metals are just too expensive.. Stainless steel 3" diameter, $125/ft. Brass is $102/ft. Aluminum is not strong enough. Anyway, I'm digging.

Trust me princess... creosote burns like you could never ever believe. Dont even go there. As a kid, my dad wanted my other brother and I to make our own money. He got us a few of barrels, cut them in half lengthwise, welded those together and made long soaking poles. He thought we could sell them to the power company, fence post for farms, and 16' poles used in building chicken houses. We cut, peeled over 5,000 poles over the next couple years. Those things would disappear but we thought someone was stealing them because we never saw a penny.
Creosote does blister you like mustard gas. Nasty stuff. And I wouldn't want were I plan on dining, blistered!!
