I am a creative problem solver who likes to see my glass half full. Reality is a matter of perspective, mine is not always consistent. I can be depended on to take others into consideration but, since one person is as important as another, I don't put my own interests aside, entirely. I consider compassion an attractive quality in myself, my friends, my romantic other. While I believe we should all appreciate ourselves, I consider self centeredness a sign of immaturity. I can be passionate about a cause, a relationship, and life but, my feet don't get off the ground as far as they used to.
For the most part, materialism bores me. Life cannot be reduced to ownership. However, a nice sailboat or a sleek horse can help to make life more enjoyable. A walk through an old growth forest, a picnic by a rapid river on a hot afternoon, a day pulling up crab pots, a night at a good play, concert, movie, Thai restaurant are not hard to come by. Life is more accessible and immediate than we appreciate. I would like someone to share it with in the sense of a partner, one who is willing to make an emotional investment in me and has space to offer in his own life. I would like a partner to rely on not, lean on. I enjoy having some time to myself but also like to share beauty, intimacy and intelligent conversation with another. Smoking and excessive drinking would be a discomfort for me and I'm sure I would not relax around either of them. But, I don't mind some unique individuality. I don't want to put someone into a narrow box. I feel that I am still able to change and grow accustomed to new situations and types of relationship. I've still got a lot to learn and I hope I am staying open enough to continue to do so. I hope you are, too.
