I am a pragmatic Midwestern guy with conservative morals and liberal ideas. Being open to others’ perspectives is very important and being willing to try new things is, usually, a good thing. I have opinions about many things and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in.
I am a very active person that likes to stay busy physically and mentally. I have various active pursuits (basketball, frisbee, biking (road and mtn), climbing, paddling (canoeing and soon whitewater kayaking), skiing/snowboarding, hiking/camping, scuba diving, and ping pong (if you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out!)… pretty much anything.
For the previous four years I performed biological field work around the US and parts of the Caribbean. Although I am not currently in that field any longer I would love to continue experiencing new places and parks and the cultures and activities that they have to offer.
Family and friends are important to me, but I’m away from them so much that phone calls are about all the contact I get anymore.
I’m mostly a home body when not on the courts or trails: Reading (adventure stories, fantasy, and environmental subjects), movies (mostly action and comedies, but I’m a sucker for chick flicks, too), music (mostly pop and rock), or playing card and board games. I studied in Brazil back in 2003 and am now proficient in both Portuguese and Spanish. It’s an awesome feeling to be able to talk to someone in a foreign language.
I’m not afraid to get in the kitchen (I make a mean pot roast with mashed potatoes and apple pie), although I have a rather singular palate when it comes to food (American, Mexican, or Irish). I love to take pictures of sceneries and animals- someday I need to blow some up to put on the wall.
Smoking is a disgusting habit that gives me a headache. I never drink alcohol (personal choice) and I’m not a partier. I’m not religious; I’m much more of an evolution kind of guy. Did you come from a monkey, too?! Could be worse things…
I’m looking for someone who is educated and likes intelligent conversation, honest, adventuresome, active, and doesn't smoke.
