At this point in my life I've done and been just about
everything I wanted to be when I was a kid.
Didn't get to go to the moon - but I haven't given up yet either.
I have been an engineer, programmer, graphic artist, sailor, sculptor, pilot, dreamer, writer (to list a few).
Retired military - dual service - Army and Navy.
I think of myself as a gentleman. and something of a renaissance type man.
These days I'm just a simple sailor.
I have a small but comfortable sailboat on Lake Texoma (the fleet flagship, in fact!, as I am the current fleet Commodore).
I love to sail and especially introduce newcomers to the sport.
So how does a nice guy find a nice girl?
Specially a girl who can handle the boat herself?

Juxtaposition
It's late Friday night, about 2 AM. We have a light south- west breeze and the water is glassy smooth.
The moon has already set tonight and the few lights around the lake are barely visible. It's easy to imagine oak planks, canvas sails, and the smell of tar and salt as we glide silently across the water.
I'm thinking this is what it must have been like 200 years past, a wooden ship sailing by the stars alone.
The stars. Looking up and searching the familiar constellations I notice a tiny speck of white light moving steadily through the heavens.
The International Space Station is sailing across the sky up there in the twenty-first century.
And I'm down here sailing across the 19th.
