The best compliment I've been given is being called a good friend that people count on. I have a close group of friends, a couple of godchildren, and the most important thing that I'm looking for in a girl is someone who is compassionate. I'd like her to care not only about her friends, but strangers, animals, nature, and about making the world a little bit better place. I'm comfortable in my own skin but always look forward to new adventures: people I have yet to meet, places I haven't seen. I tend to be a little bit on the quiet side personally, though in my career I learned quickly to be assertive. I was a news reporter then a magazine editor but paid a price for insane, workaholic hours so I switched to teaching high school. My masters degree is in Language Arts Education from UCF and I'm making progress toward a doctorate while working as a high school reading specialist. I enjoy getting out on the town, and even better, exploring a river or horseback riding (I'm a novice at riding horses but would like to improve). In early dates I'd lean toward keeping active: meet for coffee first; Go to a concert we'd both enjoy (rock such as Dave Matthews, jazz, blues, classical, some country along the lines of Allison Krauss); Winter Park for a play or movie and lunch at a good French restaurant; Maybe a park where even if we're awkward in getting to know each other we can still have fun. Elsewhere in my profile I say that I don't drink. That's an overstatement. On my own I don't drink but I'll have a glass of wine on a date. I'm definitely an art lover, even ballet or opera. I'd also hope we can both enjoy the simplicity of a quiet walk, a cup of coffee or tea on a patio, or going to the beach (in the evening when the summer heat doesn't become oppressive). Just being able to make good conversation is important of course. I'd like to meet someone who is intelligent and has an education, an open mind, and a warm heart (kindness matters).
