Personality |
Easy-going man looking for low-maintenance, reasonably sane , fit lady who enjoys simpler things in life. I stay in shape between working on my house re-modelling and going to gym . Being in shape is important to me - working out is not always fun , but it gives me the energy to do fun things.
I lived overseas when I was a kid ( an Army brat ) so I have a real appreciation for other cultures , love all kinds of food. Went to Univ of Fla on a Navy scholarship, then travelled for 6 years in the Navy.
I believe that people count more than money and have consistently made choices that backed that up. Went to the Middle East on a Navy Destroyer , instead of as a contractor for Exxon. Got out of the Navy because I was out on a ship most of the time, hardly ever home and wanted to see my wife and sons. I bought a house for my wife that we could not afford , trying to please her , and it ended up as one of the major reasons for the divorce. I was single Dad to my 2 sons for 10 years , starting when they were 6 & 7 years old, because they were my number one priority.
I would rather fix something myself than pay someone else to do it. Except for Cars - they have gotten way too complicated , too many electronic parts. I mow my own grass, fix my own house with the help of Home Depot and a friend who is a carpenter.
On personality, I did not find a category that really fit. I can be quiet in a group of people , but wouldn't say I'm shy because I will speak up and I have a lot to say when I have something in common with a person .
Even a simple home-cooked meal - and I like to cook - can be a little celebration, a nice way to unwind from the day. Showers are quick and useful for getting ready for work, but when I have time , I prefer a nice warm bath. I don't believe in having the TV on at all hours of the day for background noise, would rather have the radio or a CD playing. Find so many TV shows to be mindless, especially the "Reality" shows and Jery Springer-type shows. I will watch a football game while I am barbecuing , or listen to the game on the radio, but I will not usually veg out all day. A person doesn't necessarily need a college degree if they are interested in the world and they don't just focus on whether Brittany Spears or Lohan's adventures. Believe Sunday mornings are for sleeping in , reading the whole paper, breakfast in bed. I believe in getting and giving massages on a regular basis.
There's work and the house has to be kept up ( and I will help clean ) , but I need time to get out and see a movie , go out to a nice dinner on the weekends, hear live music at a club, ride a bike, or go roller blading. I don't want to be the old married couple that hibernates in their house. Love to travel, far and near - there are fun places that are a few hours away that make for nice 3 or 4-day weekends.
I am looking to find a loving , easy-going woman who believes in taking time each day to have a little fun and taking time to appreciate each other . When I find the woman that feels the same,
I will cherish her and let her know she is appreciated by me .
