Ugly mirrors in your bathroom?
by joat111026 at 3/7/2013 4:11:42 PM

Got some projects going on. I found one of the best solutions to fix an aging mirror instead of ripping it off the wall and buying a new one.

Either buy wood mouldings, and tiles. Here are some pictures.

This is a project to make a framed, free standing mirror (not attached to the wall yet). Backing or board to attach the mirror.

This is a 12" x 12" mirror, using an assortment of tiles, glue (construction glue, silicon glue or any glue that will stick to the glass), and sand-less grout, and some creativity. Make sure all the tiles are completely stuck to the glass before grouting.

I used red oak moulding, cut 45 deg angle, glued, sanded the imperfection, used wood conditioner and then stain with rose wood stain.

Here's the finished product:

I find using silicon glue dries faster than the regular construction glue. It also helps to keep the mesh/netting attached to the tiles.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess my only problem is where to hang the mirror.
