What do you do about beating lonlieness and depression?
by 2cynthiarobin at 4/2/2013 12:19:34 PM

I get these awful feelings all the time, even when I am not focusing on it, they just come out of nowhere and it's so overwhelming.

Stay busy!! Take walks... read... gardening... spring cleaning... the list goes on and on!! I get out and listen to live music... get around people, make gifts or even volunteer!!

I read, mostly. I've found that comic books help me for the most part, personally...

I found that vitamins B6 lowers depression and heightens your mood. I take them every single day.

Make a list of what you are thankful for. It's hard to be thankful and depressed at the same time.

Get a life. Meet people and make friends. Find people you can talk to and trust. Stay active and off DH. Its that simple.

Cynthia, I have been in that depression mood and I can tell you that the way i stay out of the mood is to look at myself and realize that I am a great person and realize that I deserve to be happy and I will not let nothing stand in my way. You have to go and follow your heart and be happy that day! We are not promised tommorow.

To all of you who were kind enough to respond, and thank you very much. Yes, I have tried mostly every one of your anecdotes (not sure if the right word being used here). Ezgoingru, yes I do take walks, (and to siegev too I love to read. Right now I am trying to keep a promise I made to God and myself and trying to read the entire Bible and am in a Bible Study at church. I love gardening and do find that "spring cleaning" really helps you take ur mind off the bad stuff going on. Sweetashoney09, yes I can sure relate about pets bringing lots of comfort and joy(I have lots of darling and loving kitty cats), and 02shootpar, i have made lists (mostly invisible lists in my heart and mind)of what I am thankful for and do count my blessings as things could be a lot worse. And mannfredman, I am trying to meet new people and make new friends (that's why I joined this website, and even though I don't like it's risque name, have found that name to be a misnomer, as most on here are NOT looking for a "hookup" as far as my experience so far has been. Most are sincere and conscientous, and DH is one of the best kept "secrets" out there as far as I'm concerned and so I am trying to find people I can talk to and trust. About staying active, MisterBill11, yes I need to do this more as I belong to a great atheltic center but do need to start going more). And yes KonaQueen I agree you DO have to tell urself, "hey, "I can do this" and no matter what do it.,!! And I have made a plan and although it's been tough so far I am trying to stick to it. A Starbucks run for a cup of coffee does do wonders and btw you can get a free "Senior Cup" of cofee at Wendys (fyi) and it's really good. Also McD's and JIB also have really good coffee I think. And picking weeds DOES seem to help, strange as it seems, I get it (!LOL!) Realizing I'm a great person and deserve to be happy and not letting anything stand in my way is great advice too (thanks my Special Friend Mike!!!) Waxfm, yeah I'm gonna try the vitamin B6. Have heard B12 is good too, but haven't really tried either, but now I will. Thanks again to all of you, it really means a lot. Peace, Love, Blessings and Happiness to All of You!
