How to Beat the First Date Jitters

Ahhh, the first date. Being nervous is normal and perfectly natural. First date jitters are to be expected. A few tips can help lessen your anxiety before your first date.

Just another Night Out
When your first date is near, just think of it as another night out with a friend. As long as you do not put any pressure on yourself to be something or someone you are not, you will not feel a need to impress anyone. Be yourself and relax. Just tell yourself and everyone else that this is a night out with a friend.

Getting Ready To Go
Do not get ready too early. The more time you have to sit and think about the date, the more nervous you will become. You know how much time you will need to get ready for the date. Plan to have a normal day and get ready just in time for the date. This way, you will be busy getting ready and not have time to think about how the date might turn out.

Be Yourself
If you plan to be someone you are not, you are going to fail on the date. Be yourself. If you are a little nervous that means you have high expectations and could be in for a disappointment. Think about the date as just another date and do not expect anything other than dinner or whatever it is you have planned. Take the time to remember things about the person you are dating. There might be some funny things that person has told you on the phone or online This can make you laugh and remember this is just another person like you. There is no reason to be nervous.

Beating the first date jitters is not easy, but the best thing to do is to relax and be the yourself. The second date should be a cakewalk!
