There are many variations of swing dance, some of which include: Savoy Style, Whip, Lindy, Push, Supreme Swing, Carolina Shag, West Coast Swing, Imperial Swing, Country Western Swing, and Jive. Some of the earliest swing dances, such as the Charleston and Lindy Hop first became popular in the 1920s. The Savoy Ballroom in New York City is widely regarded as the birthplace of swing dancing. Another swing dance called the Jitterbug became popular in the 1930s. Swing dancing remained popular all the way through the late 1950s. After a few decades of dormancy, swing dancing is making a comeback in popularity.
