William Shakespeare is known as the greatest English playwright in history. His plays have influenced countless artists as well as the lives of people in the western world. Henry IV consists of two parts, and it tells the story of King Henry’s son, Prince Hal, who was transformed from a self-indulgent person to a responsible heir to the throne. In Henry V, Shakespeare gave an interesting account of how Henry V became a respected king after he united France and England.

The Tragedies

Twelfth Night was written in the year 1601, and it relates the story of how Viola, a female pretending to be a male, found her long lost brother. Shakespeare wrote A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1596, and he ridiculed romantic love and other aspects of life in it to show the foolishness of human beings. Much Ado About Nothing is centered on a pair of lovers who are constantly fighting with each other.
