It is your "canvas" so any place is a good place to start! I would think though that the upper arm is probably where most start.

I would say the upper arm. If it's a bigger piece then go with your back.

yea, I dunno if I would go for the wrist for the very first one. I have known some people that get their very first one in a very "public" place like their forearms, wrst, etc., and then they get remorseful for getting it afterwards.....they then try to cover it up. Kinda hard to do on your wrist!
Get one on your upper arm, and if you like it and dont mind showing it off, then go for the wrist!

well it depends on how much pain u can withstand or like..my least painful one is on my shoulder blade and my most painful one was on the top of my foot...they say that anywhere where it is skin on bone will be painful or in a spot where u are tickilish there will be pain...regardless it's gonna hurt. a prefered place would be a spot that can get air often but make sure not to expose it to the sun if u do use sun block...there's nothing uglier than a faded tattoo...the best way for me to explain the feeling is sometimes it feels like a sunburn and other times it feels like someone digging u with a razor blade..but i like that...cause im a freak!!

Well pain is one the best to release endorphines lol. Pain is not the issue, its just a matter of where i want to put it. lol but im sure i have a general idea where i want to now.

How about on your chest?... it's closer to your heart. <3
My 1st tat hurt for like the first 30 seconds.
(It was on my back, top left shoulder.)
After that, I almost fell asleep.

I agree with munky about putting it on your chest. My first was on my shoulder blade. My last one (the 6th) is on my wrist. Don't regret any one of them, I got them all for ME!!

A cupple of things to think about. First 1 inch by 2, on your upper arm will look like a postage stamp. Waste of space, go bigger on the star so it fits the space. Upper arm is proubibly the least painfull spot you can get a tattoo.
Second, your daughters name ok but no date with it, you'll just have to remember her birthday the same as the rest of us. Think about it this way, After the name the date of birth comes next on a Tombstone. Do you want that kind of Mojo?
