I love to crochet, have been doing it for 40 years, love all the new designers and books available.
I have an extensive pattern collection, especially 1950's patterns, if anyone is seeking a particular
pattern, I may have it!
Please share your current projects and favorite books. Right now, working on my State Fair entries!

Hi there,

I also love to crochet. I am doing a lot of crochetting right now. For the Children's
Hospital Craft Fair. That will be in sometime in November. I'm doing a lot of baby blankets and adult blankets. Also some nap time pillows. I've been crocheting for about 30 some years. My mom showed me how to crochet.

Hi, thanks for writing. I am making amigarumi toys right now, as well as bracelets, coasters, a shawl, and
my State Fair entries (a blue pony from a 1953 pattern, too cute, and a lion)
Do you ever order from Herrschners or Annie's Attic for patterns, books, or thread?
I taught myself to crochet from a book, then I taught my mom, and she crochetted right up to
the week before she passed away. Crochet is a such an expressive craft.
Please feel free to message me if there is any pattern you might need, have an extensive collection,
lots of unusual items and old fashioned things.

I am making a butterfly amigarumi toy for State Fair entry and a toy wool lion.
Yes, I am retired, stressed with selling my house and sick cat, so on the computer for diversion!
I actually hate them and as soon as I meet "somebody" plan to get rid of it! (computer that is, not crochet!)

Hi, I am self taught, too, learned from books. And I am left handed, crochet and knit right handed. Please
email me at my "home" address, I will search my books and mail you some patterns. Let me know if there
is anything you want beside the pineapple cloth, for I have thousands of patterns, all SOMEWHAT in order!

Does anyone get their yarn from Elann. Love those discounts.

I use fine thread mostly, knit cro sheen is no longer even made, and neither is Speed cro sheen. I use
my stash or search thrift stores. I also use Herrshners for mail order and Patternworks. I have so many
patterns that I have to do that, so that I can find them again! Making a lion and butterfly for the State

I use all kinds of thread, yarn, etc. Right now I am finishing up a shawl that is made of an all cotton thread like yarn. I have a few thread bears that I have made.

This spring I was doing felted handbags (wool). I love the hand dyed wools and Noro wool. Also, did several baby afghans.

Tell me more about your state fair entries. They sound interesting.

Hi ladies, I too am a self taught crocheter. We had such a hard winter and I sat with my coat on and made 7 baby blankets. I give all my things away for gifts. The only afgans I have were gifts given to me. I caught the bug when pregnant with my last child, a girl and made her a sweater, cap, and booties. The Green Bay Packers could have worn them. lol
I have been doing it for years but still don't consider myself and excellent crocheter. Have done some knitting but not a lot and and still in a beginners catagory there. Glad to find you ladies. Oh, I love to quilt also but again haven't done much along those lines but have taken classes in it.

Hi, I love fair competition! Have been doing it since 1977, of course, it helped that I lived very near
the fair grounds. This year, will have to mail my entries.

I am making a butterfly (done except for wing joining ) and the lion (head is done) from the series
KYUUTO! JAPANESE AMIGARUMI which I bought last month at Borders. Have one other book
from that series, love them.

There were some nifty bracelets in a recent issue of Crochet Today that I made half a dozen, great fun,
and a fun way to use vintage buttons. I just saw a photo of a pansy doily done with yellow pansies
and a black (!) center, and as I have a few odds and ends of yellow, old Knit Cro sheen, really
want to do it. Also picked up some beads today for the ends of two jug covers, just fun
and silly to do, silly to spend 15 bucks on beads, but I love them. The thread is a German
made thread called Flora that I ordered a few years ago.

Well, that's all for now, write soon, and if you need a pattern or have lost one, let me know, I may
have it!

Right now I am working on a baby afghan for my Grand son. He is only 8 month but a big boy at 23 pounds so none of the average stuff is big enough. this one is made of Bernat Cottontots. It is very soft and will be a nice light weight cover up in air conditioning.

The bracelets sound really intersting. I tried to create my own pattern a couple of years ago. Turned out okay but nothing to really get too excited about.

I love beads, too. I have a ton as I used to do bead weaving. Dabbled in quitling but get frustrated with that.

It is more than passing the time! It is creativity in action! Plus, you are making beautiful gifts for your friends.
I am making a pansy doily making the pansies yellow, various shades, and the base in black. Also making
some embellishments to sew on a jacket I found at thrift store. Have you ever added a small motif, edging, or
design to a garmet? It is such a fun way to add your own creative touch to anything! I made a bunch of small
triangles in all colors of size 10 and sewed to a pink corduroy jacket, and it has gone from boring to fabulous!
Crochet is so versatile.

But you are already creative! I did not even notice that you are male. Sorry if I suggested ideas that are too
cutsey for a man! There is a strong tradition of men in the needlearts, and your sense of color and design
is much appreciated. I hope you will show us photos of your work if you have a digital camera (I do not,
so cannot show my work) Keep up the crochet, and if you need any particular patterns, let me know.

Hello from Tennessee!!!

I love to crochet and knit. My mom taught me when I was just 10 or so. Some of you may remember broomstick lace ?? I still have a shawl that a made many moons ago. Over the 4th I started a new project...a red/white/blue granny square afghan.

This past Christmas, my mom and I made scarves for the sailors aboard the USS Greeneville Submarine along with many other fine folks from Greeneville, Tenneessee ...the Sub is named after our town as it was built here.

This fall I would like to start a cat afghan, so if anyone has a pattern (crochet or knit or both) to share, please pass it along. Keep the needles movin!!!

I have lots of cat patterns, but believe that either Herrschners or annie's attic has the cat afghan you may be
thinking of. I have stuffed cats, cat pillow, cat doilies, etc.

I am now making the bracelets from the new issue of Crochet Today. Really nifty and fun, and a stranger already
commented on one.

Good to hear from you.

hi I'm glad to find you all. I would love to crochet just don't know anyone who does. Is there any simple to follow books I could start with. I live up in long winter Maine and my golden(Max) and I get tired of watching tv without being constructive. Also anyone into jewelry especially resin molding. Just have been buying odds and ends of beading. Like a squirrel I'm gathering all my "nuts" into a pile for the winter. Have been a bear for several winters hiberating and sleeping now it's time to wake up the creative side again.

from North Dakota.
I first learned to knit when I was 9, but my grandmother told me I was knitting backwards so I learned to crochet and have been ever since.
My grandfather crocheted too as well as my Mom and I taught my younger sister . That was hard cause she is a lefty, but she learned.
I crocheted a bedspread for myself finely . Always for other people but never for myself . I do afghans, but mainly in the fall and winter. At other times I crochet on towels and sell them at craft fairs.

Hi, I love to do the edgings on towels too. Also on a skirt, they really add some punch! For those who think
crochet is for winter, try making a few lacy coasters, beaded items, purses, embellishments, belts. I have
a great belt pattern which is circles with a button sewed on. Fast and fun way to show off old buttons.

Hi, I prefer thread too. I make coasters, doilies, toys, belts, bags, all from thread. The hard part now is finding the
thread since Knit Cro Sheen, my favorites, is no longer made. I miss Speed Cro Sheen too. If ever you want
some 1950's patterns, let me know. I have all kinds. Do you ever crochet over curtain rings? I was lucky enough
to find a bag of size 30 at a thrift store, so I do have a stash of the 30 size. Flora, a German company, makes
great thread, but hard to find now. I also wish I could find Pearl size 5 the way we used to. If only I could go
back in time with 20 bucks to Woolworths and stock up !!

Hello All...

Help.....I am looking for a crochet pig pattern that fits the air freshener dolls. My mom loves pigs and I got this kit a few years ago, but the pattern that comes with it is for sewing. I am not even sure if they make a crochet pattern. I know there are other types of patterns for these dolls, but sure can't find the one I am looking for. Any help would be very welcomed...

Thank you and Happy Crocheting.

I also self taught myself to crochet, knit and a few other crafts. And a a quite a few patterns if I can be of help to anyone.

a french maid over a can of cleanser, others are poodle, cat, and clown bottle covers. I have a great toy pig in
yarn if you need a toy. I made it for State Fair, and he won a blue ribbon in 2002.

Hi everyone. I'm glad I found this group. My grandmother taught me to do the basic sc when I was 6. Since then, I've taught myself most of the other stitches. So far I have mostly made blankets and right now I'm making a baby blanket for one of my step-sisters. Hang onto them! I am now retired and finally have time, but will not have enough time to do all I'd like! I just finished
a mat using a hemp/cotton blend, and making a belt of DMC's Senso thread. I crochet circles, join them, and then
sew buttons to each side of the circle and add tassels at the end. Makes a groovey belt or just hang on the wall.

I don't have the label, bought it at yarn store. Also bought some hemp at local bead store, but, again, tore off
labels . Wait, here is one in my embroidery thread box, just says "made in Romania" and Beading Twine. For the
embellishments in crochet, they are fun, fast, and easy. I love putting them on my shoes! There are quite a few
books out, and try Annie's Attic for more booklets. Also try the local library, as they should have some general
crochet books with embellishments and motifs in them.

It is so much easier for me to crochett than to knit. My grandmother taught me years ago and I even have some books on how to do some things.

My mom taught me the basics of crocheting(God Bless Her).

I have made several dolls,A gorgeous angel with full petticoat--beautiful
I made Hansel and Gretel dolls--really nice:
Also the hardest thing I ever made was a birthday doll--very full petticoat---Candles sticking up all the way around her dress---she was magnificent.

I have made several afghans---a bear that fits over an air freshener--really cute.
A little girl's dress----a baby dress and hat.

Can't knit--and am not even interested in that--lol---hoping you all have a great time crocheting.........

forever

My mother taught me to chain - oh must have been 5 or 6, about a year later she taught me the granny square and I have been hooked since. I work mostly with yarn although I have done some with thread. Everything from Afghans to Washcloths, have a extensive pattern collection as well but mine includes just about every medium there is. I also cross stitch, scrapbook, make cards, beaded earrings and more. At the moment I'm on cross stitch - I seem to get on one medium for a while then change. With the cooler weather coming I will probably start crocheting again , after the Panda cross stitch is done. Hope you all enjoy time you have for you craft.I've done a few afghans for the local fair when we lived in Wyoming and never walked off with less then a blue. I love quilts but I just don't get the whole sewing thing

Annie's Attic has the booklets for the doll dresses. What's fun is that once you see how to do it, can be
done without a pattern, and can change stitches, colors, to suit yourself. It is also fun to make dresses
for clothespins, the old fashioned clothespin doll. I have the pattern if anyone would like it.

I got myself a learn to crochet book when I was in high school and taught myself to crochet. I had seen my grandmother do it and I thought it was neat. Over the years I have made a lot of things but the most fun things for me are dolls and toys. I have made afghans but sometimes I get bored part of the way thru and then it lays til the mood strikes me again. I had crochet books by the hundreds til one day I sorted thru them and gave a lot of them away, just recently I have started getting crochet world again and I go on the internet and visit Annie's attic. There are some really neat and adorable patterns there. Crocheting helps keep my fingers from getting too stiff ,however I prefer to work with yarn instead of crochet thread, seems I can handle it better.
I have used some of my pattern books so much that they have fallen apart lol. It is nice to see so many others that crochet too.

You might like the new amigurumi books from Japan with the small yarn animals... really cute, fun to make, and
have real personalities. I like to make them in finer thread, as I prefer thread to yarn, but the books show them
in yarn. Isn't crochet just the best?

Sure, which one do you want? And be sure to email me your address again! I will soon be starting my state fair
projects, making a blouse, 2 toys, and a purse all in crochet.

The dolly? Ok, she is fun to do and you can do it in two sessions easily. I made a bunch for work and sold for 5 bucks
each in our breakroom. Will get in mail for you Tues. AliceK.
