Two years ago this week, I lost the love of my life. They took her womanhood but she kept fighting. They took her arm, but she kept fighting. I watched her wither away to nothing, but she kept fighting.
She was not a Veteran and I probably shouldn't be posting here but I knew my friends would understand.
Patty lost her war against Cancer on June 15, 2006 at the age of 44.

Mike, it seems we all have lost someone to this terrible disease. I am sorry for your pain, I know you loved her from the pain I hear in the post. There seems to be so much for so many lately...GBU

Oh Mike I'm so sorry for your loss; one helluva rough week you're sitting through, eh?
I lost one of my best friends to cancer. She was a valiant warrior against the disease much as your Patty. She too lost the war; but left many valuable lessons behind her -- like what is truly important in life and relationships.
Big warm hug for ya

Thank you all for your support! I didn't want to sound like I was "crying in my beer" or anything but wanted you to know why I'm kind of distant, lately. Yeah, not been a good week.....

Personally, I know that your are one hell of a terrific man. I feel so inadequate but wanted to give you a cyber hug, along with the rest of your friends. Mike, this post is very appropriately placed here. I dare anyone to say anything different, after all you are a vet, and need our support in ways that we can give it. Alot of people may just think you are a goofball but, I know different. I'll tip a toast for the love you had and still have for and with this dear lady.
With the utmost respect - Sandy

I echo everything everyone has said here. Losing a loved one is hard. We have all been there and feel your pain, though not as hard.
Vets can post anything here and I will help Sandy straighten anyone out that objects.
Better days are ahead for you Mike.
