I have an idea floating in my head for what I want to get as a
first tattoo. Unfortunately, I could easily be called
artistically challenged. (In other words, I'm unable to get an
image out of my head and onto paper.)

What should I expect to pay in order to have someone else
turn my vision into something real?

Would it cost any less if whoever who drew it out, also is
the one who injects the ink?

When I had my tattoo I just brought in a very rough sketch, however my tattoo was symbols and vine work, so it wasn't hard. I think as long as the idea is there the artist can turn it into reality.

If your drawing is that bad just get a collection of pics together to illustrate what you want.

As for cost, I am not sure how much doing it yourself vs having the tattooer come up with the art effects the price. You'll have to ask the tattoo shop.

it all depends on the shop my shop charges 50 dollars to do the drawing but it goes right to the price of the tat when you come in to do it. it just keeps the dreamers an people who really have the money to pay seperated. Also just tell your artist generaly what you want an he should be able to come up with what you want

The place I went, didn't charge anything to draw something up. They suggested you get them from there, but if not they will just give you the sketch.

It all depends on where you go, how big, color, and detail.

well i would say that your fist should be something u really want on your body, cause it should be something your really passionate about.tat's run from at least $45.00 or more concidering the size of them, not to mention the detail that goes with the one u choose.weather u have one drawn up by whoever u choose.if u have a friend in the bussiness then it might be cheaper for u.i have some myself.

It always helps if you have some friends that are artists. I have 2 friends and they work on stuff for me. I have a lot of ideas but it's hard for me to put them on paper. I tell them what I want and they usually nail it right on the head.

make sure you check out pics of the persons work before you get anything done. check out how good they are with detail. i got a tattoo and the guy went too deep and scared me and the detail blurred. you can check out tattoo artists online and contact them by email and talk to them about having something drawn up and check out prices

Most likely the person that is going to tat you will draw up your tat for you for free......if he/she is doing a orginal piece they usually draw a raw sketch of what you want and it becomes a beautiful piece of art as they shade and add the color ive had someone kinda just use basic shapes and guidlines on the stencil that look nothing like the finshed piece but like the other dude said make sure you do a lot of homework on the artist you pic like maybe you have friends or someone that can refer a artist to you that they trust or show u what there tat looks like........good luck and i hope it works out!

OK, I am going out on a limb here.......first off, a tattooist or sketch artist needs an "idea" of what the image is. I am a flash designer & tattooist. SO, if ya wanta email me what your idea is, I am willing to give it a shot.
Most tattooist, make their own flash, very few are drawing-challenged...
You can also take pieces of other images that may include something close to what you are wanting, but your question is too brief to answer fully.
What it will cost you, depends on where you go, what quality of work you want and what they already charge. It will cost to draw out and to ink it, most places start at $65 an hour, in my area, and for someone else to sketch it helps the tattooist out, it depends on their policy too.

Let me know. If I can help.

Man what tattoo shops are you guys going to? They charge you for a drawing?! That's nuts. For the OP, I would suggest finding images on the web of what you are looking for. If they are similar, and you explain to them what you want, they should be able to get pretty damn close to what you're looking for. I gave my shop a generic picture of a cartoon shark, Noodles from The Offspring, and his guitar, and explained what I was wanting. I got this:

And they were 100% on the money with what I was looking for! They even added the waves, which made it even better. If you're ever in the Omaha area, check them out: http://www.bigbrainomaha.com/
