I do not work for Parks and Tourism but I do work right next door to them. If any of you want them to send free information you can contact them at 501.682.7777. Really nice people there. They have info on some neat places in Arkanas I had no idea about. Did you know there is a motel in a cave? Or a wilderness cabins that you can over look Lions and wild animals from your room?

If you're into Blue Grass music and that stuff, Lester Flatts Memorial State Park at Otto on hwy 107 North of the Air Base and South of Violona has a little lake, beach, camping and stage for performances. Out in the boonies, but close in. Real close to Conway, cabot and Jax.

i have spent a lot of time over in OK state parks over the last 6 months but am just getting started on AR parks this month and am looking forward to the Ouachita National Forest area. Was at Crator of Diamonds for 4 nights and only spent some of the time in the diamond area. so much beauty here.. and Devils Den sure beats the tar out of the cabins i stayed in in OK.. yea for higher gas prices i am finding out what is in my own back yard..

I've been stopping on 71 from time to time over the past several years, watching them develop the Lake Fort Smith State Park. I hated that they had to take out the old waterfall, but I'm sure the new is beautiful... It has been several months since I've seen it! Thanks for the update!

The state park in Mena up on Rich Mountain is nice, but other than hiking, not much to do. I may try Lake Fort Smith myself this weekend. Thanks for the update.
