It drives me nuts how different leno is when interviewing someone about politics, depending on whether they have liberal or conservative views. I always know before any conservative is on there, he's going to argue with everything they say. Yet if Matthews is on there saying everyone is racist for not liking the pres, Leno will nod or laugh or something and not call him out on his BS. Same when Maher is on there. he will never call them out and say they're being ridiculous, but for conservatives he'll say "but is that really true?" and list all these arguments to concede their points. Then he claims to not be liberal or conservative.

Welcome, glad you could join in.
Not everyone is as passionate about the subject as we are. We take it seriously, because it is. We have to see it for what it is.
Leno is a talk show host, it's his job. He's not a news pundent, but the comedy monologues are fair game for all. He has to be careful NOT to offend any of his audience too much, yet be humorous and TRY to stay middle of the road. A few digs here and there are OK if it's funny and news of the week. And it's hard to hide his own prejudices. I know I couldn't do it.
