Ok i am a single mother of two boys my oldest is 6 and my youngest is three goin on four in december. It is so rough tryin to make time for me. They go to their dad every other weekend so i do not really get any time alone or time to go out and do anything. When i have off on the weekends i have my kids and when i do not have my kids i have to work that weekend...so what does that leave me ...tired and at home sleepin while everyone else i know is out havin fun...I love my kids to death and wouldnt change havin them for the world but it is hard being a single mother of two tryin to work 40 hours a week, keep the place clean, and take care of two kids. By the end of the day all i want to do is sleep. I work weird hours just to have the sitter i want so that i have someone i can trust. But that leaves time for nothing else....i get up in the morning for my son to be at school by 8:30 then i come home and get ready to take my youngest to the sitter by 10:30 and i have to be at work by 11 and now i have to pick my son up from school at the end of his day on my lunch break and go to the sitter to drop him off cuz she doesnt want to waste gas and the bus will not go two minutes down the road to her house to drop him off. so now i am wastin time money and gas....WTF!!!...i could give my sitter an extra 20 dollars for gas each week but i am already strugglin wit money....ahhh...can any one relate?
My thing is how am i supposed to find a man and have any thing wit him if i cant even make time for me right now? I do not want to have someone be in my life and feel like i am using him or can not make time for him...that would no be fare....i am just tryin to live my life from day to day and hope that things will work out and just try to keep myself up beat and happy .... let that time come ....i can not stand doing everything on my own ...i want someone to beable to hold and talk to when i get home. I want someone to share my life with... Like i tell my friends i am done lookin i hope that i just trip and fall over someone one day ....dating now days is so hard and you can not trust any one ...you almost have to do a background check on everyone you date now days and that is just crazy!
Well that is my b*tch for the day ....lol if any one would like to resopnd please feel free to ...

OMG TINK
Im so with you.
Sometimes it seems like you work and work and work...
you never catch up with the housework...
Mine are 7 and 10...and I would love to tell you it gets better?
Well..it does...
just different challenges every time you turn around...
but..
at least you get to put the barney tapes away....(dancing around a bonfire, gleefully spraying lighter fuel...ok ok..didnt really do that...but I wanted too)...
Wanna know whats cool?
On DH?
There is someone one here almost any time of the day or night.
You get a spare fifteen minutes?
You can come find a friend and vent...
Saved my life....sanity...
Hang in there....
it gets better, I swear.
I fought so hard with money and sitters and day to day life....and I still am...but there are people here...and a lot of them?
Actually care.
From one single mom to another....
((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))
and that darn serenity prayer...I have it down to a chant now....
LMAO
Email me anytime!!!!!!!

Okay, I'm relating too and I feel sure there are single dads out there in the same boat. My son is 18 and my daughter is 10. That means no more support for the son, even though dad is several thousand behind. I do get a whopping $25 per week for back support and in our fine state of KY they get to quit paying after high school. So, no financial aid for college since I have "good" job, no support from dad for that either. Both children take medication monthly and even with good insurance it doesn't cover it all. So, I thank God for my mother, who helps us a great deal. And I thank God for my friends who support me no matter what.
My daughter is bipolar so along with the financial burden there is an emotional and physical burden. Wouldn't trade her for the world but finding a partner gets even more limited when you reveal this news. So fellas, don't read that part!

Hi. I know. My boys are now 16 and 14 . Single parents have 2 full time jobs . Work and home . At home , most of the time there is no brakes. My X lives 3hrs away so they only go when they have a long weekend. One races and the other plays ball. If I didnt have my dad to help run them around I dont know what I would do. It does get better and a little easer when they can stay home alone sometimes. Hang in there. I am new to this so E me anytime. Lanie

So it seems in most cases the GRASS IS NOT GREEN on the other side of the fence.
Most of what you say is true, however, single parenting was not a part of Gods plan, and therefore it hangs in a tumultuous balance. Until your kids are of legal age you will have a proverbial "ball and chain"... After words you will begin to live your own life...
Welcome to the other side of the fence, and if that is not enough, imagine this, it all started when you and him yelled out "Oh God I'm coming"
(pun intended)

well, it is the same for single dads and single moms, i have recently caught a break and can tell you that every little break seems big when you are a single parent. it used to be walk down to the park and play cause its close. go to McD's for a sundae cause it was payday. and you know what, the kids loved it. they dont see the struggles the same as we do, so yes it does pay off in the end and it does get better. it does take time, alot of work and even more patience, but everytime i look at my kids i know they are worth it.
you can make it girl, just hang in there and use the ears that are there for you.

Hi Tink-
I feel your pain, but like everyone says it does get better. I am a single mother of four boys (between 8yrs and 16yrs). What actually seemed to help me was I included the boys on everything around the house--wether they could do it or not. It became something fun for them and now I can rely on my boys to help out with most everything here, so when I want a break, I can take it. Of course, having four kids makes the chore list smaller for everyone! LOL
Keep your head up, and remember that everything you're doing-- it's for them, and they'll know it and love you even more for it.

I know it's tough. In the same boat only my boys are 13 and 10. You're children are still every young. All i can say as they get a little older it does get a little better. I work 2 part time jobs to make up for 1. The weekends the boys go to my ex's i work the entire weekend an 8 hour shift. I have to admit i do have an excellent support system between my mom and close friends who encourge me to make time for myself. After 9 years beings divorced i'm just starting to that. Hang in there it will work out.

I had my first child at 16 and was divorced by the time I was 18. Another marriage and 2 kids more. Now I am on my own, helped to get the oldest through college and now I have one that will be 15 in Dec. and then another that will be 14 in Jan. Between cell phones and ballgames and practices (by the way they go to different schools) and putting food on the table and a roof over their heads, it is just about all I can do. Have to take both of them to school in the morning and pick them up from practices in the evening. I work, and work on the weekends to get caught up from leaving work early to get my kids from practice. NO parenting is not easy, at all. I sit home alone on the weekends so my kids can go out with their friends. My son works as much as he can (he is only 13)to make extra money. You are young and your kids are young, when they get older the demands change, but you still have demands, even when they are in college. So get used to it babycakes. I feel ya.
