I have this company cell phone, thats pretty big. I hate to carry it, I hate talking on it. i am always leaving in my truck, at home, the office. Point is. I get in alot of trouble for not having with me. Not answering it on times. She is usually mad at me at least twice a week because of it. Cell phone and text messaging, I could do without it, no problems.
Is your life controlled by your cell phone.

My cell phone does not rule my life, it is my only phone. My friends and family get mad at me at times cause I don't answer it all of the time but after a day at the office and being on the phone all day, I don't want to talk. Texting is cool, if you don't want to drag on a long conversation you text. It can be costly though. But no, it does not rule my life!

I have mine mostly for safety reasons. I live out in the boonies and if I ever have any kind of car trouble, etc. out on the road, I need to be able to make a call. Also, I have it so if am out my kids can contact me. I also use it for talking to someone I meet online.
Anyone I know offline, friends and family, I tell them to please call my home number first. Then, only call me on my cell if it's an emergency and I am not at home. I don't like just everyday talking on it...a lot of times I will let the call go to voicemail then listen and see if it's something I need to take care of right away.

I hear you about the work cell. I'm a Project Engineer in the construction industry and have to be on-call 24 hrs/dy as the Temporary Erosion and Sedimentation Control Lead for one of my projects. It's a pain to have to carry my work cell because it's too big to fit easily into a pocket and the dumb thing doesn't always receive calls, even when I have it turned on.
My personal cell, on the other hand, is not a problem. It's small enough to fit in a pocket, delivers calls reliably, and I'm pretty good about choosing when to carry it and when to leave it at home or in the car.
************************************************
As an FYI, even if your cell service gets turned off for non-payment (or if you have an old phone lying around), you should still charge it and keep it with you. The phone will still work to call 911.
If you have teens who are starting to drive, and you can't afford to provide them with a cell, giving them an old one for 911 calls is a good idea too.

Thank you for that info. My son wants a knew phone and he's not responsible enough to have one but I want to know if he's in trouble that he can use it in emergency's only. Good to know!

The internet and cell phones are ruling plenty of people's lives.
Not only are those two items ruling many people's lives, they are breaking up marriages and relationships as well.
Exhibit 23B lol, Wife catches husband surfing porn sites on a regular basis when he thinks she's sleep etc... Or husband catches wife on dating sites and yahoo messengers with men. These are just examples...
Exhibit 12p lol, Wife gets a hold of husband's phone bill and sees numerous calls and or husband is outside and his cell phone rings and wifey listens to another woman leaving him a message This same example can be applied to relationships. I'll end here...

My Cell does not rule my life but it sure comes in handy if I have car trouble..i'm in Fl. right now and the cell is what we need when the winds are 130mph and we have no power for days. Boy, we have a bad Hurricane on it's way now..Ya'll say a little Prayer for all of us in Fl.
