We all know how annoying the can become after about the 4th or 5th time they are used in a thread. So something had to be done.
However the current restrictions suck! Especially after a member quotes a previous poster who quoted another. You have to edit the entire damned post to delete the quotes and then use bold or italic's.
So I came up with an idea that might give us the use of the quote function and eliminate the headache of repetitive quotes.
When the quote feature is used it quotes the entire post. Why not strip any previous quoted posts from it and only quote the current post?
I mean it's not the quote it self that is the real problem. It is when they continue on and on and on, that people complain about.
So if any previous quotes are stripped from a post then the content remains and the ability to quote can be used as it was originally intended.

I agree and understand what you are saying. It is rather frustrating when you have to decipher, which is the latest. Seems to me they should be able to only show the last quote. Personally, I kinda like just copy/paste what ever you are commenting on and put some ... below it or something, that's what I did prior to this system.

I agree with Kenb. Instead of quoting everyone in one posting, just quote the person whose post it is you are going to commment on. Other sites do it this way and it works well.
For example, instead of this..............
Absinthe is a liqour that has been banned in the states for a number of years. It has some ingredients that have hallucinagenic properties. The government is talking about lifting the ban on it.
You would have this..........
