well, both of these have happened in the span of 2006-2007
I met a girl named Areka, we went out for 6 months, we were in love completely, and she had been in Basic Training for awhile, until she suffered a stress fracture on her hip, so she got medically discharged, when she came back and I had been getting calls from her, she seemed different, then one day she tells me she decided to get engaged to her ex. She lied to me, tore me to pieces and I nearly snapped, but kept it under control. about 4 months after, he left her for someone older, and she came to me for help, I then just didn't talk to her at all.
April 22, 2007:
I had gotten out of a relationship on 4/20, the day my friend JD died, and I was a mess, I then met a girl, she was really sweet, and when she came to visit me, I was happy, even when she had to go, we both thought about kissing each other goodbye, but we both restrained ourselves. Her name was Katy, and that day changed my life so much, I was with a girl that really meant alot, and was close to my heart, we even went to prom. soon, around the 18th of June, she leaves for basic training for the army, in south carolina, she writes me letters saying how much she loves me, and it really made me happy, but when she gets back, she seemed a little different, on the 4th of september, she tells me 'we should go our separate ways and you should date other people'. At that point, I snapped, I really have strong hatred for the army now, cuz all they do is break you down and make u change alot, and they took her from me, so I've given up trying to talk to her, so I'm single and looking, she's not the Katy I knew and loved before.
all I'm saying is, I can't trust people who come back from the Army, cuz it seemed everything in the letters were like lies to me now.
someone give me some insight or help on this.

Basic Training, in any of the branches of the service: Do not Teach, preach, or instill anything into a recruit that wasn't there before. They take a recruit and help them expand on themselvems: To be more confident in themselves, both physically and mentally. My sugestion would be... Join one of this nations armed forces, become all you can be, then look for someone to share your future with... Semper Fi

Well your only 18 and life changes a lot after High school. I am a vet and basic makes you grow up a lot in a short time. They as a person did not change, but grew up some more in a different enviroment which can make you look at different things in different way is all. Good luck and just keep and open mind.
