I agree, unless you can post something specific, give examples, or the
hacker ID ...(yes risk going to DH jail)..you are spreading/starting rumors...
that might frighten some...needlessly.
So far, nothing posted as concrete...

Yes, I would go off to DH jail if I mentioned a name.
I just wanted people to be aware that they need a secure
password and a good firewall.
If hackers can get into the governments PC's,
they can get into ours. Facts, not rumors.
It is being taken care of.

A hacker doesn't need to hack into your computer to get into your profile. They will crack the password from this site. Your password should have special characters and use capital and small letters. This will make it very difficult for a hacker to get into your account.
Seriously if a hacker hacked into your computer he or she would also break into your email accounts and other sites.
Some simple rules:
1. Never receive files from anyone even pics, if they want to show pics they can upload it to photobucket or whatever.
2. Have a good firewall and antivirus. A good hardware firewall is Alphashield it's around $90 to $100.
3. NEVER LOG IN AS ADMIN into your account, that is just asking for trouble. When you do this the hacker can just get into your computer without guessing your password.
4. I suggest you get a vpn. It hides your real ip.

I am sure some want to know what a **vpn** is.
that is short for * virtual private network *...
some of us are still learning the lingo...
A *router for wireless networking* in your home is
also a nice tool for protection. You plug your * modem *
from your high speed provider, into the ROUTER,
which then plugs the ethernet cord into your computer.
Routers have come a long way... in the last couple of years.
You can get one of the latest long length rated ones...
*N* and go out on your deck and read your email with your laptop.
There is *B* and *G* also. *B* transponds the shortest distance....
I useNetwork Magic software, (just purchased by Cisco)
as an added protection. It detects any *new connections*
as intruders, when in lock down, and denies a hook up..
it truly does work.
My tech has come over with his laptop, and it has alerted me
that someone has been denied. He has asked me to release
the lock that Network Magic has in place, so he can get his
computer on line, from my house...

The possibility of this is all too real. I can't imagine what they would have to gain except to be mean and deceitful. So for those that asked how can you tell, it doesn't take an expert to figure it out.

My home email appears to have been hacked, I can no longer receive my email as of wed. evening, I have sent email but I have not found out if they received it yet, I left phone messages but have not heard back yet. I contacted my provider and it all checks out, but
a dialog box comes up and says that I have a new lock on my email.

working in the it industry, i know how important password complexity is. and i use it on all passwords. whether it be for work or personal business.
that is, after all, best practice.
