My exe. husband and I use to take once a month breaks away from the kids to rejuvinate our marriage, like on a Friday evening to Sunday morning type of break.
I have been single now for about a year and a half and I realized about a year ago I need to do the same for myself,
So about 2-3 nights a month I will go do something fun for me. Not an overnight but like for a few hours away either go to a movie, walk on the beach, dancing, listening to music whatever I want to do away from the kids and whoever I want to be with via gf or a male friend or by myself.
It has sooooooooooooooooooooooo helped me in my single parenting life which sucks being the mom and the dad all in one person. My kids dont know if they should love me or hate me. But I know they love me and they know I love them thats all that counts in my life.

Break Givin!!! I don't see anything wrong with what you are doing. There are times when I have the chance (not very often) to get away and I take it. You need some time to yourself or if your like me you'll go crazy. Your children know you love them and are there for them so your doing your job as a parent. Not sure but hope this helps.

Wow, thats something i really should do for myself. My stress level is over the bar and i just need a break for alone time for myself. This is a good idea!!!!

Wow, thats something i really should do for myself. My stress level is over the bar and i just need a break for alone time for myself. This is a good idea!!!!
Let me know how that works out for you. I haven't gotten to the point where I'm comfortable with babysitters (mine little girl is not quite 2) but if it helps with the stress I may reconsider. Good luck!

Absolutely!! We all need time as individuals with out our kids! Take the time to find a sitter you feel comfortable with, maybe grandparents or other relatives? You will find that you miss your kids when your away from them , but its a good kind of miss!!

So I took a break last night with a best friend, had fun we ran into more friends shes a crazy one to hang out with. Today I do feel more relaxed able to handle situations a little easier, my break did help me.

i would love to take a month off from being a parent..dont get me wrong I love my girl more than anything in the world but it comes to a point where you just need to take a break..my ex takes me girl every other weekend and by friday night i miss her already lol so me taking i get a break every other weekend lol cuz thats all the time i can take being away from her lol

Hey I've been tell'n people this same thing for years and I got looked at like I was a weirdo. I called it self-dating. You take yourself out have fun relax blow off steam and recharge the battery. Only problem is I hate leaving my girls with anyone other than family.
Well I agree that we all need to get out and release that tension or you'll get snippy with your kids and other close to ya.
So let's all get out there chill and have a good time.
