Even though these books were originally written for the teen crowd, they tell a great love story and are well written. Stephanie Meyer has given us something different to read.

I just recently read the series and have a sort of love-hate feeling towards it. It was so angsty and emo, and the characters were pretty one-dimensional. I thought the writing was good until it came to the part where things were told from Jacob's point of view, and the voice was no different from Bella's. Most of all, while I liked Renesmee and I thought her power was pretty freaking cool, it annoyed the crap out of me that somehow, though vampires do not breath, sleep, eat food, cry, or do and other normal bodily function (it even makes a point of mentioning in a passage that Edward physically can't cry) the males can somehow ejaculate viable sperm. Granted, it's a fantasy series, but that's the one big part of it that I just could not believe. Also, the ending was so anti-climactic, it made me think of Macbeth when the warring army finally arrives only to find everyone's already dead.
That rant having been said... I absolutely could not stop reading these, I will be at a midnight showing for the Twilight movie, and I'm asking for my own copies of the books for Christmas. Yes, I can find dozens of things that I hate about the series, but I still love it.

I have never read the series but my daughter and her friends swear by it. Everytime the commercial for the new movie comes on I have to plug my ears. Her and her friends are already planning a party to the movie with me as the chaperon...LOL.

My relatives have read all the books. But the trailers for the movie look terrible. It looks like a cheap made-for-cable movie with vapid teeny-bopper actors. It seems they geared it for the early teen market, which seems like a miscalculation since the books had a cross-generational appeal. (I know people in their late sixties who are reading them).

I have read the whole series and enjoyed all of them. Is a story of forbidden love, not all of it seems beleiveable but I think thats the fantasy of it all that makes it such a great series.

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn are the best boooks in the world. i liked harry potter but comparing the two isnt even possible. The Twilight series is unbelievable for any age person. It really has something for everyone. I will admit the movie would have been better if Stephanie Meyer had herself been the director but movies are alway different then the book. I can't wait for the New Moon movie to come out. And i especially can't wait for the next book. Which in case anyone doesnt know Stephanie Meyer is working on...it will be the story through Edwards point of view...just a heads up. TWILIGHT ROCKS!!!!!

I read all four books in a week and a half as well as the partial draft of Midnight Sun posted on Stephanie Meyers website. Being a writer myself, I have to admit that there were flaws but the stories were so compelling that I literally could not put them down. However, I was very disappointed with the movie. They rushed through Edward and Bella's relationship and made it seem way too easy. The cast looked great but their acting skills left much to be desired. They sounded like they were reciting lines rather than speaking from the heart. LOL, I was also a theater major at one time so I cannot help critiquing acting styles as well. My friend and I came to the conclusion that they should have made Twilight into two movies. The first would end shortly after the confrontation when Edward admits to being a vampire. That way they would have the entire movie to show the growing relationship. Then the second movie would pick where the first left off and could really draw out the suspense of Bella being tracked by James. But, alas, they did not ask my opinion before making the movie. And I won't lie. I will probably buy it when it comes to dvd and be standing in line to watch the rest of them as well.

I've got all of them except for Midnight Sun but that's because Stephenie's unfinished script was stolen, I love the Twilight series and I heard the Twilight movie is coming out on DVD Mar 21st but there's a bunch of deleted scenes, I'm glad I watched it in theatre.

I have a love-hate relationship with the series... the writing is beautiful and, from a writing stand-point, Steffanie Meyer is brillian to be able to make a series consistently entertaining while writing from a first person P.O.V. Where I have a hard time, is... it is so Co-DEPENDENT... oi... "Love me or I can't live... blah blah blah..." "I should love you, I could kill you... I'm bad for you but I can't stay away..." Typical young teenage love. My first love was undeniably fetched up in how much we couldn't be without one another... it's sweet because it's puppy love... but then, it gets old way fast.

My daughter gave me the first book, and I couldn't put it down. I'll get the others from her this weekend. I don't know what sucked me into the story line...the story itself, the author's writing... It's not the type of book I normally read.

Amazon.com is where I go to get book that are hard to find.

I have read all four books of the Twilight series and I enjoyed it. I found it to be an easy and relaxing read. It is by no means a classic like "The Count of Monte Cristo" or something along the lines of Elizabeth Kostova's "The Historian" where you really have to pay attention to the details or you will miss out on something important. But I like to be able to sit back and just enjoy what I am reading.

The series may have been directed at the teen crowd but as an adult I enjoyed the story. Even my eleven year old son loves these books. As for the movie, I was disappointed. This movie could have been a good blockbuster that children and adults could enjoy, like the Harry Potter movies. But they made it into a teenie bopper movie. Just as bad was the production. I could have shot half of that movie with my home video camera and did a better job with all the bobbing and weaving that the camera people were doing.

They're definitely an "easy read." Didn't take much deep thought to whiz through all four of them in a weekend.

I felt that the first three books were superfluous. Only in "Breaking Dawn" did the author flesh out her characters. I felt she was trying too hard to jump on the "Harry Potter" bandwagon and maximize profits by stretching a thin story line through four books.

Just my opinion...

I read all four in the series, and then re-read them. The movie was ok. I wish that the director hadn't changed so much though. Who decided that Bella didn't eat meat? Plus, she got away from Alice and Jasper WAY too easily. On a different note, Stephanie Meyer's adult novel, The Host is just as addictive as her vampire novels.

The Twilight Series was a fun read and even though Bella is annoying, OCD and whiny, the rest of the characters create a balance for her pretty well. I fell in love with Edward (who in my mind bears absolutely no resemblance to the heavy eyebrowed character they found to play him in the movie). And I do agree with the person who had problems with the fact that Meyer's vampires don't have bodily functions, but one impregnated a human. That is out there, but then, so's the whole series and the author had to set up some way to more or less force Edward to make Bella one of his own kind. Their having a mutant child, too, opens up a whole new series of books--what will life be like for her when she doesn't really belong wholly to either world?

I also agree about the voices of the different characters telling the story - they were not different enough, but it's pop fiction so we shouldn't expect too much, should just let ourselves enjoy the stories.

Now, Stephenie Meyer's book Host? I forced myself to finish it. Another OCD, whiny heroine but this one just never got any better. Three of my friends didn't even bother to get halfway through it. My advice on this one is don't buy it. Borrow it or get it from the library and you won't be disappointed either way.

Someone asked where can you find the books. Of course, you can find them new but Amazon and E-Bay have the used books in great condition at reasonable prices.

THE TWILIGHT SERIES IS NOT FOR KIDS, I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE OR EXPERIENCE TO COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THE LOVE TRIANGLE. WHEN EDWARD LEAVES A LOT OF KIDS GET MAD AND DON'T REALIZE THE SACRIFICE HE'S MAKING. yES IT WAS A MISTAKE BUT HE THOUGHT HE WAS DOING WHAT WAS BEST FOR BELLA. WHEN HE REALIZES THAT HE MESSED UP, HE DOES EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT RIGHT, AND NEVER LEAVES AGAIN. IN ECLIPSE WE SEE THAT WHEN BELLA ASKS HIM TO STAY WITH HER, BUT JACOB TELLS HER "THERE'S NOTHING KEEPING ME FROM THIS FIGHT NOT EVEN IF YOU CRY AND BEG; THAT'S NOT LOVE! ANYWAY, YOU CAN SEE I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS, I'M A PASSIONATE PERSON ALL AROUND.
