Ain't that a crock? we all know about this, but the prices used to be over supply and demand... you go to the store and if there isn't any, in any store, the next time you saw it the price would be higher.

but the stock market based upon who can generate the most plausible rumor - to make the price go up???

Those rag heads are not going to make me stay home. There is no shortage its just a George Bush deal he made with the oil men that put him where he is.

If ALL people would cut down on their driving it would drive the cost of oil down. Problem is, people just keep on going and complaining about the cost. If you work you have to have the transportaion every day but how many try to car pool, take public transportation or look for alternate ways of transportation? Unfortunately, if it would inconvience us we just complain and go on instead of trying to change our ways. We, and I include myself, in America are the most wasteful nation in the world. Look how other countries people ride bikes, drive smaller cars, etc.

I have to pay over $ 2500 a year just for insurance i'll be damned if i am going to let them sit in the driveway. There is no shortage, George Bush is just lining his pockets and all his rich buddys pockets and it won't make any differnce how much you let your car set. I was in the boat bussiness in 1973 when the first so called oil shortage happened and all the cars was in a gas line a the filling stations. I could pull to a marina with a boat and put as much gas as i wanted all day long. The big oil ships were sitting just over the horizon waiting for the prices to go up, I was there and saw them.

I think sunshines point is "buy a cow"!

We all need to make changes. We were never asked to sacrifice anything when we declared "war on terror". Maybe Americans can take on the responsibility themselves. Our dependency on foreign oil will be our nations downfall.

If the people of this country insist on development of alternative fuels our economy would improve through new markets and jobs and the "pockets" would be in different pants.

Montana,
Do you drive 100 miles to work every day? It might be cheaper for you to stay in town during the week at least. I do agree that polititions have allowed the gas pricesto get out of sight but my point was if we found other alternatives and refused to pay their prices the price would go down. Time for a Boston Tea Party!!!!!!!!

I think we have been getting lied to for years. For example, I am sure many of us remember the gasoline shortgae of 1978, long lines at the pumps, etc. It did not last as long as the 1973-74 fiasco but a few things never made sense. I remember Gov. Jerry Brown flying to Washington, meeting with Jimmy Carter, and suddenly no more gas crises in California. I was living in the Washington, DC area at the time and all one had to do was travel a short distance outside the Beltway and there was plenty of gas but the DC area really suffered. What a coincidence, the capital city. I have heard this blamed on Nixon, Carter, both of the Bushes, LBJ, Republicans and Democrats alike. I don't think we will ever get the full story. I have also heard there is plenty of oil. I really don't know what to believe. I did buy a 2007 Toyota Prius, I love the car, and the mileage is great. I actually traded a Mercedes in on it and very glad that I did.

I was raised in the era of Ration Books. I don't care if there is plenty of Oil etc for the time being, but I still think that staples need to be rationed. It just me no end when the week end comes and the College and Professional Football teams have the stadiums overflowing with people. I am sorry, I am not a Sports fan, but as I watch a short part of any game, the thought of all of those hundreds of thousands or millions of gallons of gas being burned for eternity, plus contributing to global warming makes me so incensed that my Migranes come back.

The only consolation I have, is when I can say to people, you voted for Bush, so suck it up.
