Wearing his class ring that was way too big.. and using a rubberband to hold it on
Wearing his blue jean jacket or letter jacket
Writing his name on my hand in ink for the whole day lol
Writing his name over and over on my notebook
Talking quietly into the night after bedtime so mom can't hear me
Taking the phone into the closet for privacy
Going to the prom
Date every Friday night without having to ask. It was just the way it was

It was so cool to go steady. Before he had a class ring (we used tape to keep it on) he would have to get and ID braclet so the girl could wear it.

No, actually. I never experienced "Going Steady". I never dated until I graduated from college at the age of 24.

4ev that reminds me one time my sister and I went to a military school's homecoming dance. We had dates arranged for us but there was boys all over us all day and evening. Kind of felt sorry for the boys that was suppose to be our dates. But it sure was fun. I had a few pen pals for a while after that.

Focused, she never let me down or ditched me!
Sung to me through the tailpipes.
Warmed me on a cold night.
Bed was always ready.
Door was always open.

I had one steady girlfriend in high school. She was a saint to have put up with me the way I was back then. I know where she lives and know she has been married to the same man for a little over 41 years. (She married young). I have thought in recent years about contacting her but thought better of it. The last time I saw her was in 1965, shortly after she married, at my dad's funeral. (Her parents and aunt and uncle were close friends of my father's and my dad died at 55). If she ever shows up on classmates.com I may send an e-mail. My reluctance is why stir up old memories, especially since there was sex involved.
I never owned a ring I could give her but we did by matching shirts.
