Anyone else addicted to these book sales? I usually am one of th first in line, and then on the second day I go back late, for the $3.00 per bag the last 2 hrs. Have picked up some real treasures over the yrs!

Yes, though I have learned my lesson! I "feel sorry" for the books and buy some just to cut out the patterns, photos,
and so on to make cards or for my craft file. They are very popular here and well-organized down to the handing
out of book bags for folks to carry the books home.

As someone who has spent several years in the library field, I have to say it warmed my heart to see this thread! Friends of Library groups are an absolute treasure for any local library.

In my area, along with great books and magazines, the friends' sales often have a number of jigsaw puzzles, which I love (but don't want to pay full price for).

Hi Amy--good to see a familiar face.
What library system are you with?

I tend to go to the Tumwater library, south of Oly, since its on my way to work. They have a continuing booksale. Always seem to find something interesting there. I also donate books to them.

The Olympia friends of the library has a sale 2 or 3 times a yr, and the Lacey library has one almost every month. All threeare a terricic source!

Heres a good site for finding booksales in your area:

Hey JJ,

I worked for the Pierce County Library System for many years. Most branches had an ongoing friends' booksale area, with a couple of big sales in the basement or meeting room each year. The friends' group at the Lakewood branch was also a great source for jigsaw puzzles!

I worked in a library both in high school and in college. Really enjoyed it, but back then (1970s, in Ohio) men didn't become librarians. I enjoy doing research and looking into facts--probably woulda made a good reference librarian. Ain't life funny?

Yeah,Years ago,And I mean many years ago I bought a leather bound complete collection of poems by Robert W Service from the book sale at the library, for 75 cents,it seems that I was also the only person who had checked them out in like six years, that first editons set today is irreplacable, they came up missing when my dad left my my,including the banjo I had made in high school wood shop.
