My cat had to have some of his claws cut because they were growing into his paws. Then the Vet's assistance soaked one of his feet.
Afterwards, the Vet gave me a liquid anti-biotic to give my cat twice a day. I was supposed to give him his first dose this afternoon, but my cat won't let me. He runs away and hides.
I don't want him to get an infection, so he has to take the medicine. If anyone has any ideas how I can get the medicine in him, please let me know.

I have been there, believe me. Please call the vet and ask for help. Reason is that my cat had a tooth extracted
and was sent home with meds. She took them fine for a couple days, then started to resist and since I was supposed
to give to her with feeding, she began to refuse food (and naturally, it was the weekend!) and water! I had to
take her back to vets on Monday, and vet said that cats can really get into a habit of refusing to eat when we
are forcing pills or liquid down them. My cat is old and skinny, and she had to stay two more days at vets. I
was afraid I was going to lose her. Finally, on steroids, she began to eat and drink on her own again. Please
call the vet and explain the difficulty and ask for suggestions. PS My cat is normally a "good" cat who accepts
all kinds of handling and meds, so to see her fight the meds and then refuse to eat or drink was a surprise to me
and very upsetting. I hesitate to make any other suggestions knowing that force is not good, and unless your
cat is a chow hound and you can mix with food, best you tell the vet what is going on. He or she may have
an alternative med for your cat.

I've had plenty of animals who won't take there medicene...they don't know it's going to help make them better!

So for my cat's I've always done this..with a liquid I either put it on some bread or in a little bit of wet cat food..and with pills you can also open them up and sprinkle the medicene throughout the food. Because the pill cap is just there to hold the medicene..it's not important.

Also if your cat likes cheese, like most of mine do, you can put the medicene in a piece of sliced cheese and roll it up. Just be creative and find something that your cat likes, and go with that. Easiest way, rather than trying to force the cat..it's in enough pain already.

Hope this helps!

I have four cats, I buy a large bottle of penisilin (spelling?), when I take them to the vet I will ask him if the penisilin I have will work, usually the answer is yes. This is not the pink stuff you mix with water and then have to get down their throat. It is injected with a syringe (got several also from the vet). Pick the skin up on the back of their neck and stick it in, it is hard at first but way easier than fighting. The cats don't even seem to mind. Note the bottle has a shelf life, don't get a big bottle for one or two cats, also works for dogs.

Most cats won't eat food with medicine in it. You will need to catch your cat, kneel on the floor and place her with her butt in your crotch. Cats have a tendency to back away when you give them meds and this prevents it. Pop her mouth open and squirt the liquid as far back as you can, you may need to hold her mouth shut so she can't spit it out. I have three cats and have dealt with this many times, and I have an associates degree in vet tech. Techs often will "burrito wrap" cats in a towel also if they object to meds and procedures.

He won't eat food with the antibiotic in it...I do try to catch him when he is eating so he can eat or drink water after. Earlier, I got the medicine in his mouth, but he immediately spit. I try to prepare the medicine while he is asleep, and try to get it in his mouth. I just don't want to risk having him getting an infection.
