According to Wiki;
This is a chinese saying: yi shi er niao (????)which literally translates to "one stone two birds". There is also another chinese saying that goes yi jian shuang diao (????)which translates to "one arrow double vultures", the usage of which is the same.

now THAT one i do understand..because if you have a hold of ONE thing, why risk ltting it go for the possibility of maybe getting 2 that you don't know for sure if you can even get?
never thought about this being ancient chinese sayings...those chinamen were pretty wise weren't they?

Okay this is what I remember being told.
One of the wars between the French and British (sorry, I can't remember which one) the French were running around bragging how they were going to beat the British and cut off the middle fingers of their right hands. That is the finger that is used to draw the string on a bow - in order to shoot an arrow...........
Well, the French DID NOT win and the British, in order to taunt them, started displaying their middle fingers - still firmly attached to their hands.
And hence we now today have the custom of flipping adversaries the bird.............
I thought that was a pretty cool story, and if I ever find out it isn't true I'll still think it should be.

When I was a kid at Primary School, I was walking home one day when I heard the twittering of sparrows behind me'
I reached down and picked up one stone and walked on a pace or two and then swung around and threw the stone.
Yes, I killed five of them but then again they were classified as a curse up here and infected our homes with lice.
If a sparrow gets to Western Australia, They have a sparrow hunt calling in all the expert shooters to get the one bird. The winning shooter collects $10.000-00 for one vird.
On the border between Weastern Australia and SOuth Australia, they have professional shooters there preventing themigration of Sparrows and Starlings into Western Australia.
They use Guns, I only used one stone
Catch you sport
