I can't find a good videos of these songs, so I've decided to just put up the audio.
Dwight Yoakam performing "It Won't Hurt", and "Things Change", both quintessential Country songs.
These cuts are from what I consider one of the best Country performers on one of the-arguably-best Country albums ever, dwightyoakamacoustic.net.
He is matured and at the height of his powers, performing, as the title says, acoustically, all of his greatest music. Dwight's clear, subtle and powerful voice, with that just-right Country inflection, and his "unplugged" guitar. Every cut is Country-perfect.
A desert island disc for sure.

Diana Jones. Jones is on the Folk/Americana side of Country. She is quite a unique performer (and person, her bio: http://www.dianajonesmusic.com/story.htm ). She has a mysteriously haunting voice, full of character; a voice reminiscent of where a lilt had been.
She writes her own songs too.
The first video has two songs with a short interview in between.
Pretty Girl.
This is remarkable song in so many ways. What strikes me most is the feminist voice talking about a human condition. As a man, hearing a woman's side of being trapped by her beauty, objectified by men, made me much more appreciative of how I interact with women, particularly beautiful women.
My Remembrance of You.
This is a heart-wrenching song, but not if you remember that what lingers is Grace.
Or maybe the idea is to create those gracious memories right now.
Cracked and Broken.
What a delicate and life-affirming love song. So many well-turned phrases, I guess she writes like a painter. Right from the introduction, she had me: Anais Nin talking about (William) Blake being "Cracked-that's where the light shone through." She does write like a painter, isn't painting all about light?
In writing this post and hearing the music again, I am now wondering how Pretty Girl and Cracked and Broken might relate to each other, Diana Jones channeling Anais Nin: "The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say."
