Hello there,
I love birds. they are low manintence pets.
I raise fancy fantail pigeons and muscovy ducks as hobby.
I own 2 parrots(female sunny)(male greencheek),1 pr c*ckateils,1pr lovebirds.
this brings in wild birds, that often come up to back yard for feed.
lets face it folks, cheapest food out there is for birds.
please take seat, tell us about your birds. I have, so can you.

LOL Gotta disagree. Birds are incredibly messy. Spent a lot of time making sure that the cage contained everything they throw around. Never get all those stupid feathers and seed husks out of all the corners and such.
Can't stand c*ckateils because they have such bad temperaments. Parrots can get pretty pissy too, and you wanna talk mess, wait til one breaks a feather and starts throwing blood all over your walls and carpet. That was a gross mess to clean up.
Have had the above and parakeets, (had a flock of 19 pure white ones years ago, were very pretty, but loud and messy, and yes, the cages can smell just as bad as any other animal if you don't clean them often enough); now about 30 zebra finches, (ony started with 4, but spoiled them and...); and my favorite, my white dove, had her for years, was so tame I could put her head in my mouth like the lion tamer bit LOL She would ride on my boom box in the front seat of the car, windows rolled down, and go cruising with me, never trying to fly off or anything. As a joke, I made a little satin leash for her for when we went to the park. Should have seen the look on the ranger's face the time I was camping with a rabbit and a dove LOL

Birds are not low maintanence. The bird food can be but the bird food at the stores is like giving a child candy all day. To buy real food, it is at the pet store and it pellets. Then you have to make sure that the bird isn't located in a place where there is a draft. Birds need attention, if none is given then the chances are they can go nutso on you and do damage to themselves. The vet bill can also freak you out when there is something wrong and there are that many vets that deal with birds. I had c*ckateils and parakeets so I know how much work went into them. They are wonderful pets but they need attention just like a child would.

Hi NEW to the mingle here. I have 4 budgies, all different colours, call them my jewels, of course the white female I call Angel she is so smart this one, I was told all whites are female is that true? Anyway I live in a condominium, & I set up the solarium entirely for them plants, feeders, gym, ropes & beads, they love it (glassed in) If I lived in the country, I'd get them an outdoor/heated shed. Looking for a birdsitter when I go away though.
