So it was very hard for me to learn how to spell and learn proper grammer specially when the number, letters and symbols would get mix up and come back wrong. anyway My daughters also have the disablity but they were able get help with it. because they have a program that is called Special Ed. I have a collage reading leval and I have finish schools for business, accounting and am a certifed graphic designes. It doesn't mean you are dumb because you can not spell!!!! klutterbuck Jonesboro, AR age: 65	If you would like to use Mozilla Firefox as your browser, it comes with a spell checker. It's not perfect, but is sure helps. When you misspell a word, it will be underlined in red and you can right click on the word for suggested correct spelling. Hope this helps.

I'm not zeroing in on grammar, phonics, format, subject/verb agreement; any of that. As long as we share thoughts, concerns, and feelings...it's all good. On the opposite end of the spectrum, people that have near perfect grammar and can post messages like an English Professor are not always the most brillant or they lack common sense or desirable personalities. rcpilgrim Gulf Shores, AL age: 37	People take for granted that English is the hardest language in the world to learn. As a GTA at Auburn U in English I graded Freshmen composition. It's amazing the lack of spelling ability by some of the students in the class. They weren't in any way ignorant. They just couldn't spell. They could form very coherent thoughts on paper but simple words weren't spelled correctly. The medical field has several disorders that contribute to learning or lack of ability to learn. I recently saw that there is a new disorder called ADHD to go along with dyslexia,ADD, and hyper learning disorders. You're not alone and you're not ignorant. You can type! Good luck!

As long as I can get a relatively clear idea of what someone's saying, that's good enough for me. It's heart and character and wit that matter the most to me. I like the free exchange of ideas, and I would hate to think that someone felt stifled and was reluctant to post a thought because of spelling.

When i was young they put me in the special class... i would sit there look at all the children with sever disabilities and thought, i will always be dumb... but, something just clicked in the 5th grade... (they passed me, cause my parents moved twice a year, and each school did not know what to do with me) i learned my self by hands on... i would trace every thing... my hands on street signs i would climb up the poles, and trace the letters over and over to learn the word SCHOOL... it was like training my brain to think backwards.... I am still dyslexic, but knowing this has helped me get a grip on my young self esteem, i didn't even know the name until i hit the 11th grade in high school. Still terrible in word problems in math, directions... but thank goodness, i can almost memorize anything.. i only retain about 40% of it after 1 year.. but temporarily i can memorize enough to pass college. But chemistry still is very difficult for me... Just don't ask me for directions!!!

If you are unsure and know there is an issue with your spelling, use spell check or a dictionary. I also believe it can sometimes hinder communication. Or maybe I'm just lazy and don't want to take the time to decipher what's been written. (Such as posts without any punctuation.) Also, there's nothing wrong with ignorance. It just indicates "a lack of knowledge". And we can all use a bit of knowledge. I know I can. But don't sweat it.

People have a tendency to criticise others in order to mask their own shortcommings. A misspelled word on occasion doesn't necessarily indicate ignorance, but what tends to happen here is that many totally massacre the language. Being foreign born and raised, I have always strived to perfect my english. It is a difficult language to learn and, unfortunately, you are judged by your ability to communicate. As stated previously, most of it has to do with going back and reading what we have written before posting. Whasup is not esakly the best way to introdeuse urself. I notice that OP hasn't bothered to come back in and comment on the posts.

But, I've always asked if it was because of some disability before rendering a final judgment. (The disability I might be able to overlook.) Poor spelling and grammar, while not necessarily indicative of intelligence or ignorance, can be indicators of sloth (laziness). Like others have noted: "spell check is your friend". My spelling always has been horrible. But, you don't see too many errors in my posts, do you? I'll even go back and fix mistakes (spelling, grammar, typos, etc.) when I notice them. It's just showing respect for your reading audience.

I accessed this via computer and it has tools to make up for my own personal failings in language. If you want to be more impressive, use them. If you are IMing and typing top speed because someone interests/excites you, and they are too dumb to catch on that you go faster than you would if you stopped to pretty up your typing, it probably isn't your loss if they move on. Most of getting into the relationships with people here are about impressions---so you can either use your options to make the most of your impressions, or not. Either way, it WILL make an impression. Just be sure it's the one you want to make!

walksfarwoman Crystal River, FL age: 47	you should be happy that there is such a thing as a spell check. when anyone miss spelled a word in class the entire class had to stop while the teacher made the student that miss spelled the word get out the dictionary and look it up. not only did you have to look it up in front of everyone you had to spell give the parts of speech and the definition. this class wasn't a high school class. it was a college level work. after a few people went through that they learned to pay attention to their spelling. me included. i use a spell check every time i write anything. and i still use a dictionary. good luck. and no your not ignorant.
