Have any of you tried the estrogen ring? If so, what did you think? I'm considering it but I'm not sure about this.

I have a slow release IUD that emits progesterone over 5yrs. It's about time to have it removed. It's been wonderful, but I'm a little wigged out about the ups and downs of restarting another one or going sans birth control and hormones. I have no actual cancer history and the side effects of this thing is great, and I certainly don't want to have an unexpected little blessing, but I DO know other ways of preventing THAT. (you know like holding hands ).
All my parts still work. I just don't know how well they will after the removal of the IUD.

Sunshine, I've heard of the yam root that you rub on your abdomen and it actually transdermally boosts your hormones. Is that what you were talking about?

Boy am I overdue for a checkup.

HA! I wonder if any of the men are reading this.

Maybe they could give us some advice.

You start talking about rings and they'll start talking car parts or worse yet think marriage and run like a thoroughbred!

I'm sleep typing again. sorry. Hope you get the info you're looking for.

Yes, this man read the thread as I try to view all the new ones. But this one is so far over my head, I doubt if I should post this. For all I know, I thought it was the man's job to provide the lubrication. What do men know anyway?

Estrogen ring? You got me there. I've never heard of it.

Laff, I have to say, you're one brave soul coming in here, trying to decipher what's been said then offering suggestions .... Um, er, hmmmm .... or was that offering your services?

When I start feeling moody, this is the only ring I'll wear.

BTW - soy works for me and never had a need for anything else.

Well it is this ring that you insert and it releases low doses of estrogen for 3 months. I thought it might help with hot flashes and memory but I just read something that states it doesn't.

Hormone cream at a health food store? Do tell us more about that, please.

I had the breast cancer scare myself. No estrogen for me either. Luckily menopause has been an easy transistion for me. No mood swings, just the occasional night sweats. Those are miserable enough.

I swear by soy-based products and tons of research has supported its efficacy in eliminating or reducing intensity of hot flashes. I'm flash-free.

Thank you for coming in. I believe men should know about all the "bad moments" ladies go through when approaching menopause -during and after also. By being aware, I am sure, they will be more understanding and supportive. Again, thank you.
