ATTENTION ALL:

What ever you do, DO NOT sign up for an account with FLing.com. That's is the most ridiculous site I've ever been on. Every single women I have met on that site has either been a web cam chick, lives in west Africa, or wants me to sign up for a SexKey account to view her profile and get her phone number. It's total bullshit!

Linuxian....thanks, but you're a little late with the fling thing. "Adultmatch.com" is another. The website says "either you hook up or its free"....well they have sister sites meaning they grab profiles and send them to you from other sites proclaiming it was the user who sent it, yet the user hasn't a clue. Another one is "Iwantu.com" (just like fling)....Newest one I've found is AshleyMadison. There you can hook up with married chicks of various ages and they also have some sophisticated singles as well ($60 a month) Beware when you sign up for a dating site as the "auto-renew" is the deal breaker and those with an extra where for $1.95 you can get another site which will "auto renew" at the same price or higher than the one you signed on with.

As far as the scams go? I get emails from Nigerian women saying their dad died and left them between $2 mil and $5 mil, but they arent allowed to get the trust themselves and they need a go between in the US. Send them your bank account number and they will cut you in for 80%

Another scam is where a woman is so lonely from the UK or Australia and lately from Sweden and Russia. She wants to come to the USA to begin a new life but she has no money. They send you pics of women which are very easy on the eyes...like should I admit....VERY HOT STUFF. Yeah women try all kinds of ploys to get the green. Truckers are so called banks which 7 figure accounts. kind of idiot would believe that? Yeah we make big bucks but most of it goes to expenses. Anything that sounds to good to be true, usually is!!

If we actually posted every single scam email, This thread would never end.
It is pretty easy to spot scams.

They will send you an email with a sob story and how they are looking for the right man to fall in love with and have childen with, blah blah blah...

If you look at the profiles of these people it say they live in the U.S.A
But in the email, they can hardly speak english and have worse spelling and grammer then a 5 years old.

They will ask you to email them from your real email address, they will use the excuse, I am not on this site very often or I am about to delete my profile or close it.

If you manage to fall for this, they will want you to use an instant messenger so they can try to sweet talk you, in hopes of getting you to fall in love them.
Once they think your in love with them, They will ask one of the following:

First type of Scammer:
1. Would you mind if I used your address to get packages at and then could you forward them to me?)

These ones are the ones who buy peoples information in a hacker chat. The better the persons credit rating the more it sells for. Typically the best ones sell for about 20.00 each.

Second type of scammer:
2. They will tell you another sob story and ask you to send them money to help there sick family member who the told you in the very first email, was dead.

These ones are out to simply drain your bank account.

The third type:

3. These are the worst ones. They will not ask you for anything or ask you to do anything for a long time. Then they will ask you, Would you like to see an updated picture of me?

If you say yes, they send you a pic of some lady they found on the internet who is a model. Attached to the picture will be a hidden file called a Trojan. Which will then allow them total access to your computer.

I deal with this for a living. I am one of the 5 people working at an ISP that when Law Enforcement needs a customers information, they will have a warrent to get the information about the person who's was assigned a certain IP address, We will then provide them will all the information that the warrent specifies, After our Legal department validates the warrent.

The sad part is,
If you get the
Number 1 type: You can go to Jail for it.
Number 2 type: You just lost all your money for nothing.
Number 3 type: this is actually an Unethical hacker or crack. Yes, there is a difference between a Ethical Hacker and an Unethical Hacker and then there are those want to be hackers called Crackers. They are the ones who use someone else's programs to hack into AOL, Yahoo or where they want to try to hack into.

This one will use your computer for a DOS attack or to send out virus's.
If you get this one, Well, depending on how good the person that hacked you really is, there will be no trace left of what they did, but you will more then likely have your internet connection interrupted until you call you ISP and speak to an Abuse Agent, unless your PC was used to launch a DOS attack, (This takes a lot of computers to do) So usually you will not be liable for this and you will be told by your ISP to run a spyware removal tool.

The biggest and most blatant scam ads:

NOTE: Friendfinder MAY HAVE real girls, but the ads that take you TO them are assuredly NOT real, and just there to suck you in and get you to upgrade to the other $$ member levels.

These are all the SAME SITE, with different addresses running off of the same servers, and owned by the same folks (Penthouse aka GMCI Internet Operations or Penthouse Media Group, Inc.). They simply use filters to "narrow down" to the specific types:

AdultFriendFinder
Alt
Amigos
AsianFriendFinder
BigChurch
BreakThru
Cams
ChineseFriendFinder
DatingFriendFinder
Dine
FilipinoFriendFinder
FrenchFriendFinder
Friendfinder
Friendorama
FriendPages
GayFriendFinder
GermanFriendFinder
gradFinder
Guanxi
IndianFriendFinder
ItalianFriendFinder
IWantU-Now
JewishFriendFinder
KoreanFriendFinder
LoveYouAnyway
NiceCards
OutPersonals
QuizHappy
Passion
RussianFriendFinder
SeniorFriendFinder
ShareRent
Slim

And there are HUNDREDS of other URL's that point to the same places.

The "Carrot or the Stick" Scam:

If you land on a dating site on the net with "other site" ads, you'll note that the FriendFinder sites are trying to lure you with with BLANTANT LIES about the site. How do you find out about the FriendFinder sites? Easy, you see the "sample ads" of "girls from your area," all the wet-dream voluptous hotties that cascade down the side of your screen, all claiming to be from cities within earshot of you.

If you look carefully at the fine print, the FriendFinder and you find:

* Photos and other data are for illustrative purposes only.

ALLOW ME TO TRANSLATE: The pictures and ads you see that will let you click over to FriendFinder and it's zillions of other URL's are COMPLETELY FAKE! If you click and join, do NOT hope to find these particular "hotties" in your area. As a matter of fact, if you land on one of those pages with FF ads, just click REFRESH several times, and note the pictures stay the same, but the names and locations keep changing!

From their "Terms of Use:"

5. Content Posted on the Site/CDA:

C) By posting content to any public area of Adult FriendFinder, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to Various, Inc. and its members, an -[irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully-paid, worldwide license to use, copy, perform, display, and distribute such information, rights of publicity, and content and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works and other media, such information and content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing.]-

What this "clause" contains, is YOUR agreement that any pictures that you post on their site BELONGS TO THEM FOREVER, and that they can use YOUR pictures in their ads and other materials.

SO: You can go to BIGCHURCH.COM and advertise for other Christians for dating potential. Two months later, you MAY find that nice pic of your hottie wife is being posted in an ad for ALT.COM, claiming she'd love to find someone that's would like to tie her up and use her as a human toilet.

The "prepare derivative works of" section is what covers THAT little foible.

OH RICK, YOU'RE JUST EXAGGERATING:

My experience involved communicating with a woman I met on one of these sites that did not post a picture. We had gotten pretty far along on the e-mail portion, then she finally sent me a picture. WOW , she claimed to be 44, more like 64, missing a finger and built like a dock worker.

I know we are supposed to be trying not to be so superficial, but damn.

Great post though, very helpful for those of us who take the time to read it. For myself, I will not get involved without a picture and even question that. Like some of you have said, if she is too good to be true, then she probably is. (my spidey sense is tingling).

Thanks for all the info. guys.
