Hi, I am planting my spring bulbs now. Who else loves to put in bulbs, knowing we will see them when the
seasons spin again?

Do onions count as bulbs? I save the bottoms of my green onions and plant them in the fall so that(except when they go out of season for a while during the summer) I can run out to the garden and grab some fresh onion greens any time I need them for cooking or just to munch on! I have tried to plant garlic also but they do not seem to survive as well! I do have a lot of bulbous flowers in my garden and maybe I will follow your suggestion and plant some new ones this fall.

Spring bulbs, nope not me . . . they don't last long enough (2 weeks) for the amount of work that I have to do.

A neighbour plants garlic in the Fall. So I bought a bud? and ripped it apart and planted some myself. Pack it in, wait until July and it should be ready.
.... if only I can remember where I planted them!

Because it would take about 400 to fill the area.

How do you eat an elephant? 1 bite at a time. I'm sorry the devil made me do it.

Caky, when I lived in Northern California on 25 acres (small to you, I know, I know!) I ordered 200 bulbs the first
year and a hundred more the second. They do naturalize, you know. Sold the property 10 or so years later, and it
was famous for all the buttercups! They do look nice amongst rocks and on slopes.

I planted garlic and shallots about a week ago. It varies about depth. Garlic is planted deeper than shallots. Of course, I plant Elephant Garlic. This year will mark about 10 years of planting garlic. This year I planted eight fifty foot rows. My back will remind me that this wasn't a good idea next July.

She said it alot nicer than I did, but even if it took awhile to do it, wouldn't it be neat to leave this old world a little better looking for every one to enjoy after our time on earth.
