There is an event coming up on Sunday the 18th. There are very few people in the age range of 18-49. The 50's and older seem to be more commited to socializing. So back to the question, what would make the 18-49 want to attend a DH Event?

Good Food, Good Music, And Good Company... Thats what keeps me going back. I think the younger set are to wrapped up with their busy lifestyle to care much about a picnic and meeting people....

I can speak for this particular group. They are very welcoming with smiles and everything as soon as you pull in. It is so relaxed it is like a bunch of long time friends. If you can make the Event you will leave with a smile and good memories.

The old saying "youth wasted on the young" if the younger started to sign up others would follow but if no one signs up all of you miss out I don't think I can explain it any better.

I see you are like 2 and 1/2 hours away that is alot of traveling for a picnic also for jasonea76 coming from Virginia Beach but there are so many people like 30 minutes or less away and they don't sign up. Just confused trying to get people motivated to come out. On plenty of fish they have events with hundreds of people average member brings 3 friends and like a hundred have signed up. Even if that was half true an event would have 150 to 200 people!!!

I've feel the same way. The Virgina chat just doesn't seem to have very many people between 21-40 in it.

To meet new people & make friends.
I have been on 6 years and men my age aren't interested in women there age. So making firends no matter what age in a good thing.
At least at the picnic I will get to meet some people that make me laugh.

It does seem that younger single people are caught in a vicious circle. They are here to find a companion, but then too busy with their jobs and raising children on their own to get out and meet potential soul mates.

I am wondering how we can make the picnics more attractive to the younger set. What if we plan one picnic towards single parents with children, and plan activities and games for the children?

There is a facility near Remington, VA that borders the Rappahannock river and have canoes for rent, also this place is a full size equestrian center with possible guided trail rides. They also have a great restaurant, so we could opt for not having to cook, and spend more time on entertaining the kids. I could volunteer on a short pre-ride lecture about horses, tack, etc. (You will have to hang a timer on my neck, because once I lecture about horses, I loose track of time ... )

Someone who know about wild local plants could lead the group on a nature walk.

I love my children more than anything but an Event I look at that as Daddy time where I get a break for a few hours. I know that many can not make it because of work kids etc. The ones that could go but don't sign up because there is not many their age need to sign up others will follow. If they don't then you can remove your name from the list so you have nothing to lose. Everyone looks at the guest list to see who is coming. If you see someone that is of interest to you first contact with them you could use the Event as an ice breaker. Thats my thoughts for now. Just wish the younger would put forth more effort.
