That's an excellent perception, but in the scheme of things when we meet someone that might come close, don't we feel the need to change them? We might not admit to it, but most do. Just a thought!

By reading a profile it is suppose to peak your interest to find out more by communication. I don't believe that people really to lie on their profiles, they just over exaggerate about themselves.

nobody said you could, but if your profile doesn't say anything that is of interest to the reader then they will probably move on.
Bob you have made a number of posts lately, and they all seem to be pointing in the directions of you not getting dates or that the ones you have gotten didn't end up like you wanted.

like you said no one can tell much if anything of substance about a person in a profile..
of course when anyone says looking for mr/mrs right they mean right fit for them.
i have heard stories of people going to meet another and find out they used other peoples pictures lol or the picture they had up looks like when the other was 10/15 years younger.
that says nothing compared as compared to when you meet someone and they are nothing [personality wise] as they portray.
isn't life grand??? lol

we all judge,, what eyes do we use to judge through though ??
I don't have the answers, but I know dishonesty is the wrong way.
I go the other way. I probably have too many flaws, and downgrade my profile and have learned so much about life the last few years.
I know that if I mow the lawn that I'll probably need a shower. And if I eat too much Chili, I'll probably get gas. so be it..
I also know we are all not meant to be 100% compatible to each other. And as we age we seem to be less tolerant of what we accept in others to have a realtionship.
The clock is ticking for us all...
Don't we all just want SIMPLE joy, peace, contentment and if we are blessed , to share these with a mate who wants to be with us and to make each other feel special, wanted, loved .....?
I guess we all need to line up and have the "JUDGEMETER"
LIKE ON THE OLD D*CK CLARK AMERICAN BANDSTAND SHOW..

I don't think I've ever met someone who "might come close" chemistry-wise... it's either there or it's not. And you can't change other people... the only person you can change is yourself. Isn't that what we all want... to be accepted for who we are?
How can we expect that if we're not willing to do the same?

i think i have to side with bob a little on this one. i dont have much on my profile but after my last relationship, im really not sure what i want any more. but i do know who i am and when i see another like me i try to atleast become a friend or something. but im starting to think that its not all about likes and interests any more. you go threw and read some of these profiles and after reading like 6 paragraphs becuz your hooked on what she has to say and at the end it say if this sounds like you then hit me up. first thing they do is look at you and start the judgement with looks. o this ones not cute enough so pass. we're all guilty of it at one time or another. but like me i want someone who i see beautifull in my own eyes and no one elses, and what i see is not what you see. i want someone who can help me better myself and wants me for me. not cuz of swagger or none of that and i know im not the best looking n the world either. but just a little advice for the ladies, give us a shot. most of the guys looking threw here are not about who you are but what you are. and i think alot of woman are the same. listen, give us a shot. dont be so quick to judge a book by its cover. and the same for the guys, dont base your emotions on looks for it will get you no where in life.i hope this was of some help.

But how many people can actually NAME their lifestyle, beliefs and morals? If you can't name them, how can you recognize someone who is similar?
Besides, I know for a fact that women dont respond to that crap in a profile... I have profiles that make it very clear who I am and I get nothing! But let me post one of my more humorous profiles talking about Blaniks and Louboutins and I get 25-50 emails a day!
One profile, the first one, tells people what they are getting in terms of lifestyle, values etc. while the second profile only shows a sense of humor with no idication of the things that truly matter.
Again, the first profile gets nothing while with the second profile women kick my front door in trying to get a date with me.
What women want, is what women want at that moment. If the profile and pics strike a chord, you get an email and some traction. If not, you get squat. None of the other crap matters.

Everyone can name their lifestyle, beliefs & morals, but how much info is appropriate to share in one's profile and how much should be shared in due time on a more personal level...?
The profiles that spell out too much sometimes come across as needy or shooting too high. The lighthearted friendly profiles come across as more confident. When I read a profile that spells out all the things some guy's looking for in a partner, it comes across as "he's looking for the woman with the foot that will fit into his glass slipper." The humorous, lighthearted profiles take the pressure off. They're "inviting."
Confidence is attractive.

I hope all women say they are looking for Mr. Right ! When someone says they are looking for the perfect opposite sex or Mr. or Mrs. Right I think they have something to hide about themselves or just plane out lying about something!!!! ALOT of these profiles are full of things they think might make them look better than they really are , what ever happened to getting to know and love someone for what they truely are in the inside.. I have dated some real hotties and they are the ones that set out to hurt ya most,, so if someone asks me if I'm Mrs.Perfect boy I'll just have to show them I'm way far from that I mean I'm from New Orleans AND have red hair....ok so ask yourself just how perfect is that I mean REALLY!!! PERFECT?????
