moonwolf7492, this is perhaps more common that you think. Though I think many of the issues are selfish and center around control.
I usually tell the kids that at 'mom's' house, they have to follow her rules. At mine I am king.
Usually, as part of the divorce most states will mandate a parenting plan. This is the guidelines on how the children are to be raised. Schools, religion, medical care, and therapy are outlined. Any changes to this (in a joint custody situation) requires approval by both parents.
It's unfortunate that these squabbles are over the kids (when actually they are not). It only hurts them. Unsettles their lives and usually encourages them to pit one parent against the other.
I have had to use quotes from the parenting agreement many times with my ex. I hope you are able to find a middle ground with whatever issues you are faced with.
