Ive heard that the Lottery is suppose to help improve the NC Educational system but I
dont believe that Ive heard just how its suppose to do that.... If it goes like the VA
and WVA Lottery goes then I dont expect it to change much... I think it was just NC way
of keeping the money here instead of somewhere else... I just wonder how much food its
taken out NC childrens mouths because parents are buying lottey tickets instead of food?

No its not working, the average Elementary School teacher spends an average of $500.00 a year on school supplies. Mind you it's coming out of their own pockets.

Maverick, that's exactly why I haven't bothered to buy any lottery tickets. A fellow I know was on the board of the original committee that got it going, and after he explained to me what would happen with the money (some going to highway fund - like gas taxes aren't enough already!!!!), I just don't do it. The ones I see buying the tickets are already poor mostly anyway. So, no, I don't believe it is working as the public was lead to believe that it would. JMO

I am from South Carolina and they started their own lottery before NC. It actually takes about 7 years to get things in order and start seeing the results...give it some time...its not an overnight thing and I am sure it varies from state to state. I have lived in WV as well and it has improved their educational system...I have family that are teachers up there and they really talk about what a positive impact it has had on the state.

I'm not sure how much it is helping yet. I have a few friends that teach in Wayne county and they are still buying some of their own supplies. I had to either quit buying tickets, or call the 800# to quit gambling,
Tina
P.S. I just can't seem to time these when everyone else is online

I have to laugh, EDUCATION, boy you can fool some of the people all the time!
It is still a lottery and EDUCATION is getting very little of it. Just enough to make it sound good.
