On another thread I am posting excerpts from 101 Myths of the Bible by Greenberg. Just found out the author also has another book that looks wery wery interesting:
The Jesus Mysteries : Was the ‘Original Jesus’ a Pagan God?
I would say yes, the "original Jesus" was a Pagan god. There is too much evidence to point to this as a probability.
Other books worth reading:
The Book of the Law
Drawing Down the Moon
A Witches Bible
Women Who Run with the Wolves.
Kellytoo, I think of you when I think of Women Who Run With the Wolves. If you have never read it, I will send you my copy with one request: That you pass it on to someone whom you feel would enjoy it or needs it or would be made better by it. I think the book would add to your repertoire of wisdom. And I sense a healer in you - and because of that, I think it would also come in handy.
Let me know if you are interested.

Very thoughtful and generous of you, Sek. Thank you. I just ordered the book from a free mail order public library service that we have in this state. You're right regarding the healer part too, btw. Sharing a poem about a wild part of myself.
Bright Blessings, Kelly
Honoring The Within
Muscles rippling with graceful seduction
She steals through silence in the night
Scents waft in the air of delicious affections
Misapprehensions fly ominous in the night
The cause is noble, though not seen by human eyes
Smoke and mirrors camouflage her secret stealth
And she slips into the desires of your mind's heart
Loving with complete wild abandonment
Tearing at your soul as you beg for more
Beseeching and pleading
Dark mother nourish and fill this hollow shadow
Ease the burning suffering of my soul

Kelly:
I am glad you are getting the book. You will love it. And the poem is absolutely lovely. I always had a problem with the Triple Goddess of Wicca. I'll tell you why: 3 is an incomplete number. 3 is imbalance. And there are 4 phases of the moon people, not 3!
Why I bring this up is because of your poem. Your poem reminds me of an aspect that women forget: The Warrior Woman/Mistress. Think about it. And if you add that into the three, it is that much more balanced.
Maiden, Warrior, Mother, Crone.
Of course, this is only my opinion. I think women forget their dark aspects...

I agree, Sek, and think women are discouraged from finding and honoring the dark part of ourselves. Just because it is dark, does not mean it is evil or without purpose. It takes a balance of dark and light to function properly, my opinion. We need to embrace all parts to truly know oneself.

It isn't just women who are discouraged from embracing their dark side. I have run into that most of my life. There have been countless times that I have been told by people that they cannot decide if I am an angel or a devil. I try to tell them that it is a matter of walking the line between dark and light, not good and evil, but they never know what I am referring to. Not only are there four phases of the moon not three, but it is the same with the dimensions we percieve. It is not three, it is four, one has to include the negative space (for lack of a better way of conveying it).
There is a book called 'Jesus and Mastership' that may be of interest. It takes the life of Jesus and tells it from the point of view that what he did was no big deal at all. It even explains some of the 'miracles' that so many people say that he worked, in such a way as to make it seem possible for anyone.
It even talks about him pulling people aside that he 'healed' to tell them that it is the way that they have lived that has caused the illness. And that if they did not change that it would come back. I am not a big fan of religion in any way shape or form, but this book is powerful. It makes the whole concept of Jesus and what he did less far fetched and more humane.

Other books that would interest many here (and are works of fiction with hints of truth):
The Great and Secret Show
Norma: We're so powerful, and so frail.
Harry: Us?
Norma: Everybody. Powerful.
Harry: ...they can't feel connections. They think they're alone. In their heads. In the world. I hear them all the time. Spirits come through, carrying on about how alone they feel, how terribly alone...
And of course, The Dark Tower Series. But...the Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker is phenomenal. He is a man who knows things...you know?
