Where I live,I'm only
allowed dial-up.No high-
speed.Unless I wanted
satellite.That costs $500.00
to install and $50.00 per
month.If this isn't allowed
than I probably will go for
the satellite.
I heard Verizon has something
out there where I could hook
up with them for high-speed,
does anyone know about this?
Thank you for any help.Dial-
up suks.

I have QWEST as my phone service.
I pay $29.00 per month for broadband. It is not as fast as cable...
but much faster than dial up.
Verizon...
I think that is a new *fiber optic service*...that is available in certain
markets or locations. I cannot get fiber optic service as it is not yet installed
in my city. NO clue on the price. How about a google for a phone # and a call.
I would be interested what you learn.

Just saw a VERIZON add on FOX news. $12.99 per month to start.
20x faster than dial up. That sounds wonderful if you have VERIZON service in your area.
My previous comment about VERIZON was regarding their *FIOS* program..(fiber optics), that is different than their TV advertisement.

Hanover,
I use lots of different access methods. If you can't do broadband through either cable or DSL (dsl is usually only available within 3 miles of the CO [local switch]), then of course satellite is an option or the cell phone air cards work as well.
The air cards cost about $60 / month under contract, you can usually get the card for your machine for free (usb will work with desktops as well) and it works anywhere where there is cell phone reception. It is also way faster than dial up, but slower than broadband.
